Long live Rock -n- Roll
Wednesday I met up with Terrific58 and we hit the zoo with cameras in tow. It was a great morning. Nice and cool, good light and great company. We finished off our picture taking expedition with lunch at Route 66 Diner – where I blew most of my remaining weekly points. This week has been rough on my points! Hubby took me to lunch on Saturday – which was very nice. Then Sunday they picked me up from work after they went to church and we went out for a family dinner. That was nice too. These days it seems like the time I spend with the family is way too limited! That’s what happens when you work two jobs though. It’ll be worth it in the long run.
Also on Wednesday, Ducky and I went to my birthday concert. She bought me Black Sabbath tickets for my Birthday gift. Of course they were touring as “Heaven and Hell” but we all know who they really are! They were here with Testament, Motor head and Judas Priest (the headliners). It was a great show and I remember why I love heavy metal so much! Something about the energy and rhythms that you can feel in your chest while an electric guitar screams out the harmonies. It always gets my blood moving and the my excitement meter pegged! I still like classic rock, and easy listening, Jazz and pop – but my heart will always lie with heavy metal I think.
This was the culmination of my heavy metal teen trifecta. In the last year I’ve seen: Rush, Scorpions and Black Sabbath. They were hands down my three favorite bands growing up. I couldn’t stop grinning all night, although I paid the price yesterday when I had to get up at the butt crack dawn to go to work, and then I worked my second job in the evening. Whew was I beat last night! I slept in today and then cleaned up the house. I have to work again tonight but I’m much more ready for it today!
It was hilarious to people watch at the concert. I loved the 80s – mostly. But I left them behind a long time ago. There were A LOT of young kids, but a lot of folks my age too. Some were like me, just enjoying a trip back in time, without feeling like we had to act 17 again. Others – had never left the 80s. There were middle age guys with beer belly’s and receding hair lines in long metal hair and leather vest. There were older ladies in halters and leather boots, the typical hair band groupie type attire — but with too much make up and too much – well everything. There was one chick my age dressed like a 16 year old. She didn’t quite pull it off. LOL People watching was half the fun! It was a great show and a great crowd. Thank you Ducky for a great BD present!
Well I’d better go get ready for work. I’m hoping I get less hours at SC next week – this week I had 37. That’s a lot for a part time job! Especially since I’m starting to get sub jobs now. Although hey – the paycheck will be good right?
Question of the day:
More hours or less pay?

oh, less pay…that’s just how I roll…
hey, the concert sounds too great…hubby and son went to RUSH this summer, too…we are headed to THE EAGLES next month….can’t wait!!!!!
take care, hon…:wink-wink:
You must have seem some folks still sporting the “mullet” hair style? Gotta love those that get stuck in the 60′s or the 80′s. They never seem to move on. I liked a lot of the 70′s and 80′s music but a lot of the styles would look horrible on me now!
I hope you get more sub jobs and less store jobs. Which pays better? More hours for the higher paying job!
ryc: We both need something to come along, don’t we? Let’s keep praying for both of us! I saw a billboard today that said “God’s answers are usually better than our prayers”. Let’s hope so!
my answer to your question of the day is it depends on the job we are discussing. Some jobs I would definitely take less hours. but, more likely than not, I would say more pay. Simply because we probably need the money. lol
Man, I love Rock and Roll….its my vice….
I spent the good part of last week downloading music and ad to my collection….I would have loved to go with ya!
xoxo, QE
less pay…
I like to people watch too. I don’t think I’ve ever seen an older woman pull off the 16 year old look. I wonder why 16 year olds don’t try to pull off the 40 year old-ish look.
Now, sadly, they could probably do it.
You’re welcome :]
Thanks for the SHIRT!
I love it. To death.
:dancingcow:
Haappy Birthday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Glad you had a great time!
I know what you mean people still in eighties…..Our town here is still washing off the seventies and eighties in design and backwoods era! Plus dont forget the redneck era!
What a hoot the concert must have been! I love metal too and enjoy VH1 Classic with the old video. It comes as a bit of a shock to see what they look like now, 20+ years later. I did hear one stupid band member commenting on how old and saggy the groupies had gotten…as if HE was still a studly young thing! HA!
As for the question, less pay…more hours for play, life is too short!
