  • What’s new??

I’m sorry I’ve been absent lately. I’ve been busy around the house. After visiting CO – my folks came up for a visit to help me celebrate my Birthday. Yep. That’s right. Another year older for me. Not a big celebration, just family and good food (which I splurged and spent some of my weekly points on). I got a cool new styling tool for my hair, and since I got it cut again on Friday, that was very handy! I also got a hot air popper, which my friend ThisIsBullDookie informs me will be a life saver with some butter spray and spices.

I also got a job. Not teaching sadly. Not yet anyway. But for now I’m working as a receptionist at the Supercuts up the street. When I was getting my hair cut the stylist mentioned they were short a receptionist. She asked if I was interested. I applied, went back the next day and the manager hired me on the spot. I started today. It’s not great, and it’s only minimum wage, but it’s a paycheck and that beats the big fat zero I’ve been earning! And it gets me out of the house, I get free haircuts and a discount on all other products and services.

Again, not very exciting, but it’s a paycheck. I’ll take it.

Went to Laffs again. It was awesome! My mom and dad ended up being part of the show. The comedian was talking about marriage and what makes a good marriage. He asked who was married for a long time. The first guy said “8 months” – that brought down the house. He continued asking and was at like 33 years when me and my mom yelled out 44 years. Then he asked my mom what the secret to a happy marriage was – one of our friends leaned over and told her to say alcohol and she did! The whole place just fell apart. The comedian did a happy dance and said “you ever have one of those days where everything goes right at work?” — then when every got settled down he asked my dad what the secret to a happy marriage was and my dad said “Always have a bottle opener” — ROFLMAO. The comedian commented that everyone was prepared to be let down, that there was no way he could be as funny as she had been, and then he answers with that! He offered to hire them and have them travel with him. I wouldn’t be surprised if he used their answers in one of his future shows. It was soooo funny! People were coming up to mom and dad after the show and talking to them, and one lady offered to buy them breakfast. Too funny. See? This is where I get my sense of humor, and my girls got theirs. It’s genetic.

OK, I’m off to help hubby, who just got home. We’re hanging french doors between the living areas. This will allow people to watch TV or game with disturbing the others. It’s going to be so nice! I’ll be back later to read and catch up with everyone. Until then ~

    Question of the Day:

What’s your secret to a good relationship?

  • Congrat’s on the job.  It is nice to get out of the house and have something to do.  I so need a haircut but I can’t bring myself to decide on just shapping it up or butching the crud out of it like I really want to.  It took so long to grow it out the last time I butched it over 2 years ago.  Happy working.

  • Congrats on the job, I know it’s not what you were looking for but maybe it’ll keep your mind off waiting for a teaching job :big-smile: Then before you know it you’ll be teaching and your hair will look fabuloso! :big-smile:

I had a funny answer to the question of the day but not everyone “get’s” me that way so I’ll say….. Honesty, Fred and I have been honest to a fault with each other from day one.  We may not always want to hear what the other has to say but at least we know it’s honest, no games.

My birthday is coming up on the 3rd, I’ll be 37 :what:  Savannah will turn 4 three days after that.  We’re going to see the Backyardigans on my birthday for her birthday, I think she’ll love it.  Fred ordered my b-day present yesterday, matches the b-day present he bought me last year  :celebrate:  I’l be old but I’l look good in my b-day present!  :ROTFL:

  • Those French doors will be so nice!  I always wanted some like that – but I don’t have any living areas big enough!  : )

    Congratulations on the job!

  • :celebrate::celebrate::celebrate:New Job………yeah……….hugs too.

  • happy belated birthday and congratulations on the new job. i have no secret to a good relationship. as i do not have them for very long.

  • Congrats on the job. Your parents sound fun.

  • I tried to come back and say Happy Birthday earlier when I left the first comment but I was on my Mom’s dinosaur and it was WAY to slow.  Glad you had a Happy Birthday!:big-smile:

  • I’ve been considering taking a “paycheck” sort of job too.  Something part-time until this mortgage mess straightens out.  Or, until I win the lottery.  I hate stressing about money, but here I am again.

Thanks for your prayers.  We just have to get through the service now.  My brother seems to be okay.  Watching your loved one get to that point, it’s easier to let them go.  Cancer sucks.

  • Happy Birthday! :dancingcow: Cute story about your parents!

  • LOL your folks are a HOOT! I’d say after 31 years of marriage, the secret is to keep a sense of humor and don’t take life so seriously. Always look for the best intentions in your mate. And don’t deny yourself sex to prove a point- it is fun for everyone!
RYC: Mama Mia was Awesome!!!! Get a girlfriend and go see it! It is aimed at people who lived through the ’80s. The kids are not gonna get this movie. I loved it! Probably will buy the DVD. Happy Birthday and congrats on the job! My bday is tomorrow and i do not want a job for a gift. heheh But yahoo for you! We are going to go see Wicked! emlee

  • Happy belated birthday! And what a great story about your parents! Now, I am still a newlywed, but it is not my first serious relationship by far. There are several things I think are important, like talking (and REALLY listening) to each other and, of course, sense of humor. But if you want to know our “secret”… for Mr and I its gotta be the spoon. Spooning and other platonic touching – snuggles, hugs, back rubs, etc. Do some kind of platonic touching at least once every day. Its amazing.

  • I bet that comic does use youe parents’ answers in his next show!  They were hilarious!  Happy belated to you!

  • Thursday will be great!  I have an appointment around 10 and I can stay over on your side of town until we meet up.  Do you want to shoot pictures or  go out to “lunch”?  Let me know.

  • awesome, new job, good luck :)

That is hilarious, glad you had fun at the comedy show :celebrate: :celebrate: As far as you question of the day, I’ll let you know when I have one.
