  • Positive Energy

It’s just my opinion but I think the interview went —- GREAT!! It was a panel of four. They all seemed to like me but the principal really seemed to like me and many of my responses. She was smiling and nodding her head A LOT! Several times she  opened a dialogue about my response about  how exactly that was right etc.  She even nodded, pointed at me and said “exactly!” a couple t the end of the interview we were talking about shoes and offits etc and basically just chatting. I also took my portfolio, and although they didn’t have the time to look it over, as we were talking I was able to pull out samples of what I was talking about and show it to them. For example: we were talking about parental involvement in the classroom and how I would encourage and promote it. I pulled out a monthly newsletter I had made in CA – explaining that it helped to keep the parents in the loop and allowed me to keep them updated and informed. They were able to look over a concrete example of my point while I went on to talk about other ways  I would encourage parent involvement. I was really glad I had my portfolio. All in all, it was a really positive experience! Whether or not I get the job, at least I know that I presented myself well and I feel comfortable about my performance.

BTW – the shoes and clothes I was talking about a new outfit and pair of shoes that I got this week. I LOVED the shoes, so cute and comfy, so I got them, and then I just had to get this super cute outfit I found at Ross to go with them. Oddly, I had found this adorable purse at Savers earlier int he day, and bought it. It all went together perfectly! So cute. So I was looking totally spiffed up and professional. Not like my usual T-shirt and jeans uniform for sure!

The principal said they would make their decision this evening and then HR would notify the applicants. She was smiling and said “by law I can’t tell you”. I have no idea if that meant anything or not. I’ve decided not to read anything into it. I figure I’ve done my part, the rest is in God’s hands. I’m trying not to get my hopes up, and just be content that I had a good interview, and that at least I finally got an interview!!

To keep busy (so I didn’t over think things) when I got home I dead headed all my front flowers – ugh I’ve put that off way to long! Then I filled my bird feeders in the back yard, watered back there, and then talked to my folks while I sat there and enjoyed the birds in the back yard. Now I’m watching TV and updating all of you. aren’t you thrilled?? I know you are. I saw that new challenges up, I think I’m going to try to get to them tomorrow. For now, I’m content to finish this off and go a vistin’!

    Question of the day:

What’s your best / worst interview experience?

  • I think I hate job interviews.  The best ones are where you’re pretty certain you’ve already got the job.  It sounds like you really nailed it!  I bet you get it!  Now the question is…do you want it?  Is the pay good?  What grade would you be teaching?  I’m just full of questions, aren’t I?

She wouldn’t be making small talk with you if you weren’t going to get it.  I don’t want to mess with your head though.  I hope you hear from them tomorrow!

ryc: I’m so hoping my car is cheap to fix.  I’m 2 payments away from it being paid for.  This is the time the transmission would die, right?  I’m crossing my fingers that it’s not that!

Only 4 more days of school for Eric, thank God.  All the changes really do just mess with him.  Hey, I got his acheivement test scores today.  He averaged a 6th grade level.  Is that really good or just average?  I’m not really sure how I should interpret it.  On word study skills he got “PHS”, which I imagine would be great.  On total mathematics he got 10 grade equivalent and also a 10.1 on spelling.  His worst skill was listening, no surprise there!

  • good luck on the job!! keep us posted! *positive vibes!*

as for MY best interview?? hands down…the one when I got my first job in banking…did you ever read the story of that? well, it’s during the posts I did about my SIL, Susan…back in Sept. 2005….it’s listed in my special posts over in my custom module….oh, we pretended NOT to know each other during the interview because the branch manager was also conducting the interview with Susan…she was the teller manager and had told me to apply, but didn’t want to seem biased towards me!! it was hilarious…and I did get the job… =D

my worst interview?? gee, I know I’ve had one…but off the top of my head, one really worst one in particular isn’t standing out…probably some of the ones I did in NYC while looking for jobs when I was 21…I know some of those were really awful…I felt so out of my element at first…but then I got used to it all and got several jobs…

RYC: check in again with me…my foot is MUCH better now, but wait until you see what it looked like the next few days after the bite!! I’ll post more pics soon…

again, best of luck with that job!!

  • The one I got at a restaurant and then got hired…….He put me right to work wearing this wrap around skirt and damn if the first people I wait on had to stick their hand up my skirt.    When I threatened the idiots with losing their hands the manager thought I should of been more understanding to their side of the people.   I went and where is your understanding for my side of being assulted without my permission?  He didnt like my question and I told him he could shove his job where the sun didnt shine!

  • Good luck.

  • RYC: I’m very…very….veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeery tired. but okay, I’m in my ninth week and all is well. I just feel very lethargic and blegh. I try to take my puppy out for walks but yesterday I almost caused myself a heat stroke. It was very bizarre, it’s evident that my body is not mine anymore.

I’m praying you get this job, sounds like it went incredibly well. I’ll try to update more often if I can rip myself off the couch long enough :sleepy:

  • @dtrask - Thanks! I know, cars always break either right before or right after you pay them off. Some kind of serendipity or something — annoying.

@AroundJoy -  I remember reading that post! That must have been a good interview!

@oh_mother_may_I -  Yep, that sounds like a crap interview, and a crap job to top it off. Ugh.

@Jackee0779 -  Thanks girl. I remember being tired, that should pass in a couple of weeks. Make sure you’re taking some prenatal vitamins though — they help immensely with that!

  • Sounds very positive… my last interview for the job I have, it was very interesting. I drove 90 plus miles. I meet with six different teachers and an AP, because the school was getting a new principal and he was not there yet. I left thinking damn… I didn’t get that one. On my way home the school called and offered me a part time position. I was so desperate I said yes. It turned into a full time position. That was five years ago. Last week, a student came up to me and said, “you know Ms. Gentry told me that when she interviewed you, there was really not a position open, but they thought you were so awesome they created a position”… no one ever told me that before, it made me feel really good…I feel like I am bragging now, but you did a couple of things I did on that interview including taking my portfolio, dressing nice, etc. Best of luck to you, and I always say wherever God wants you, that’s where you will be… I believe that.

Hugs, Tricia :celebrate: :so-cool: :celebrate: :celebrate: :so-cool:
