Let’s get the important stuff out of the way
NCIS — WHAT????? I absolutely will throw a complete hissy fit if they actually break up the team. I was ok with the death, we had decided that she was the only expendable one – as far as we were concerned. But…. breaking up the team? Unacceptable. Period. Point blank. Here’s my point – steak. (think Sonic commercials).
American Idol — I’m glad it’s David and David. I think they are both outstanding, but David C — is SO READY to be a star. He’s got it all. I think David A will be one too, but I think a few more years of experience will benefit him tremendously. However, let’s face it – David A rocked the house last night. Cook did great too, but he’s been better. End desired result however is still the same. Cook overall blew the doors off everyone consistently. He deserves the win. Let’s see if his fans managed to out vote the millions of text happy teenagers who are fainting at Archuleta’s feet — it’s going to be a tough battle I think! Either way they are both going to be BIG! I’m sure!
Ducky is getting better everyday – both physically and emotionally. She’ll be well physically long before she’s healed emotionally however. I think she may be getting to the point of accepting it, not dealing with it completely, but accepting that there is nothing she can do to change it, and she just has to try to move on. I might be biased, but she’s a fantastic kid and I know that she’ll find someone even more wonderful who treats her as she truly deserves to be treated.
Squirt’s 8th grade promotion is tonight. She’s got an “activity day” at school today, the pool that is on the campus (but it’s a public pool) will be open, they are having a rock climbing wall and giant slide and obstacle course. They are being provided with food ( I think it’s pizza) and goodies. What a way to spend the last day in school huh? Wish I’d had some last days like that!
More fun and games with APS – only it’s not fun any more and I don’t want to play. Ahh well. These are things that we must face and overcome right? Uh huh. I’m looking at alternatives as well – such as private and parochial schools, and jobs where my teaching skills will be valuable – like maybe Parks and Rec or something like that. Ah the saga continues. I’m bored myself with it, I’m sure you all are! So let’s talk about something different…..
Blues Festival this weekend! Woot! Hubby fixed the A/C in the Escape so the drive will be livable. I’m really looking forward to it. Friday is a street dance (they close down streets downtown and folks party right in the street), and then sat and Sunday it’s at the park. A nice relaxing weekend, just what the dr. ordered!
I also picked up to new books, my book club book, The Book Thief and Stephanie Meyers new book The Host. The next Twilight book comes out on Aug 2 — I’m stoked! I was down yesterday and getting two new books is almost better than chocolate to cheer me up. Now a book AND chocolate, that would have been the bomb. However, watching my diet again, so, no chocolate, just books!

Question of the Day:
What cheers you up?

I missed something, I’ll have to look back, did Ducky and her bf break up? Im glad she’s feeling a little better.
What cheers me up? Knowing that I’m 1200 miles from Indiana :ROTFL::ROTFL:
i couldn’t beleive ncis either. i was rather upset. i had just thought a few days before how the cast really makes that show. so who will they be replaced with?
mexican food cheers me up. so does leaving whatever situation is making me upset and crying then sleeping. i wake up and feel much better.
Yeah, I didn’t like the NCIS ending either. It’s gotta be a ploy, right?
Poor Ducky. First Love breakups are the worst. It was bound to happen but I’m sure she doesn’t see it that way. I hope she deals with it in a healthy way. In a way it’s better that he’s so far away. At least she doesn’t have to see him at school with a new girlfriend, right?
I bet you’ll find the perfect job. Looking at private schools sounds like a good idea. It will happen, you’ll see!
Has it been a year now that you’ve been in NM? Man time flies.
Your weekend plans seem delightful! I am going to sit home and do nothing except maybe clean before the entire family shows up for the wedding next week. I am glad that Ducky is doing a little better.
I loved the last show tonight. It was a good job, but now I’m sad because it’s over. I may have to give the whole”cheering up” subject some serious thought!
Chocolate and a book… great way to cheer up!
What cheers me up? rubbing my puppies belly and some good chocolate.
RYC: Work is “okay”. I’m still looking to start the programming classes in September. I’m secretly plotting my escape. Just taking all of this one day at a time. Yeah, good thing we were both wrong
It’s understandable that your daughter needs time to heal emotionally, but I’m glad to hear physical healing is going on at least.
I LOVED the results of IDOL last night! I was on my feet cheering! My whole city is still cheering (KCKS.) Cook was my favorite too, but it wouldn’t have bothered me is Archuleta won. They were both so talented. I tried calling in and voting for Cook Tuesday night and tried until midnight…I never got through, it was always busy. I thought for sure the judges comments would throw it to David A.
I bet you are getting tired of the job hunt thing. I would imagine the difference between private and public schools would be pay and benefits, but maybe the experience would be a big benefit to you in a few years. I wish you the best at landing the job that uses your gifts and talents to bless the right group of kids. There’s a lot to be said about being right where you’re suppose to be.
My field day in 8th grade was to a convent. I love sharing this story with my kids because they find it hilarious in light of the field days their friends get to go on. Amusement parks, swimming pools and pizza, trips to nearby cities, you name it, they go there now. Me-I got to go to a convent, (where nuns live) and the boys in our class went to a seminary (where priests are trained) I was gypped, and obviously my class has no interested parents helping out as room mothers. I look back and find this humerous now, but even the parochial schools were recruited in those days or there was just a lack of parental involvement. I honestly think it was the latter.
I am totally with you on NCIS. I too, had decided that that was the only member who was really expendable but the breakup of the team was unexpected. I think they will do a few episodes with them gone to different assignments but have to get pulled together for something. Don’t like the new director already! I do love the Franks character and I was worried that he might go, but he is good for more plot lines. I guess she was too but the writers must have decided they needed more pressure from above for Gibbs. It will be interesting to see what happens.
Have a great weekend!
Chocolate and crafting!
Hope Ducky feels better soon!
I am sending my love to your daughter, poor thing.
I didnt watch one idol this year, I just dont know whats wrong with me?
Food cheers me up. This is a dangerous thing!
xo, QE :dancingcow:
I’m so happy Cook won!
Looking at my finished scrapbooks, thinking about my upcoming job as mother and if all else fails my sister is always there to give me a boost in the happiness department.
Hope Ducky feels better soon!
I’m missing you out here! How’s Ducky doing? Have you been working a lot?
I got sucked into the NCIS marathon on Monday. I must have watched 6 old episodes, at least.
Sorry to hear about Ducky. I know that is hard seeing your kids hurt.
I to love getting new books to read.
What will cheer me up, is when my daughter is back in the states.
Hey, I hope everything is all right. You’re going on 2 weeks without a post! I’m having withdrawals. Help! Seriously, is everything okay?
