  • Excuses, excuses

I have my excuses. Want to hear them? No… fine be that way.

I was going to write an entry for the Kween’s last challenge – but I didn’t.

    I was going to write a featured_grownups entry — but I didn’t.

I did apply for several positions, (4 last week actually), created cover letters and resumes to distribute this week, and worked several days.

I started making new curtains for our bedroom windows to block out the light. We have the annoying habit of picking houses with street lights right outside the Master bedroom windows. This was a real negative when hubby was having problems sleeping. We solved it (temporarily) by hanging sheets over the blinds. Since that worked, I’m now making some curtains to permanently hang – ones that we can open when light would be helpful, like when I’m putting on my eyeliner, things like that.

Lady Bug went to the 8th grade dance and she looked terrific. So grown up. Where oh where did the time go? I have pictures, I’ll upload later.

I’m also busy helping Ducky, who is sick. We took her to Urgent Care yesterday (3+ hours of waiting, oh joy) mainly to get a Dr.’s note and to make sure she didn’t have an ear infection. With all her past problems I want to keep that nipped in the bud. Well guess what? Not only did she have a nasty ear infection, she also has bronchitis. So now she’s on antibiotics, and cough medicine with a kick. Poor baby. Unfortunately this is a tough week for her. She had AP tests this week, finals next week, and Duckman chose  her sickest night to break her heart. My heart hurts for her. We all knew it was coming. Especially when he decided not to move to Silver. We all felt like it was just a matter of time. But young love doesn’t see things logically, and even though she knew the odds were against them she was hoping they could pull it off. This is definitely not a good week for her. I just want to smack Duckman upside the head for being so callous. On one hand I’m kind of relieved. Now she can do all the things that a 16 year old girl should be doing. Like go to dances, go on dates and participate in her life, instead of waiting, and waiting. On the other hand, I’m her mommy and I just want the hurt to go away and her to be happy. I know that she’ll get there, but I hate watching her go through this.

So that’s my excuse. LOL — life darn it, interferes with blogging again. Now next week is the last week of school. I have a job fair, a blues festival and visit to Silver to take care of, then my time will open up considerably and you will all probably see a lot more of me! But for now, I have curtains to make, painting to do and some rose bushes that desperately need to be dead headed. So I have to take off and catch up with you all later!

    Until then:

    Question of the day:

Do you prefer a little light or pitch dark for sleeping?

  • It really doesn’t matter to me; I have no trouble falling asleeo wiuth the lamp on when I am finished reading because it seems like too much trouble to reach over and turn it off, but Husby can’t sleep if there is a single molecule of light on the house!

I know how hard it is to have your child’s heart broken like that, but she will be better off for it in time.

Good luck with the job applications!

  • Life is important… so no need to make excuses. Poor Ducky, hope she did okay on her AP Exams.
    Hugs, Tricia :wink-wink: :wink-wink: :wink-wink:

  • I have to have a little light because my eyes spasam in the pure dark.  I am looking forward to seeing you again after school gets out.  YK’s wedding is the 31st but after that I am free! Don’t forget book club is June 1. You can drive over here and we can walk to the house where we will be fed and have fun.

  • I seem to fall asleep faster when its dark, but I can sleep just about anywhere. lol

  • I say… sometimes you feel like a nut

    sometimes you don’t

  • Poor Ducky…what a time to get the break up news. I hope she is feeling much better soon! (and that some other wonderful fellows will be in the picture when she wants them).

Dark, must be dark for me to sleep at night. However, I can and do fall asleep sitting straight up in my wing back chair watching TV, but for my sleep ritual, I need dark. Doesn’t work too well when I have to travel with co-workers who insist not only on light, just in case they have to get up to go potty, BUT also have to sleep with the TV on!!!! Too much for me!

Good luck with the job applications! The right thing will come along at the right time!

  • Oh poor Ducky. Sarah trampled Andrew’s heart last week too. That is a bummer and my heart goes out to her. Sorry to hear she is sick again. Hugs

  • Hope your dd is feeling better soon, poor baby.  I perfer a little light, just enough to help me find my way to the bathroom.  Savannah wants total darkness, she used to sleep with small stuffed animals over her eyes until I bought her a sleep mask, its too cute!:sleepy:

  • Update with pictures is posted! :)
I prefer dark, but I have to go to sleep to the tv on, I use my sleep timer, I can’t go to sleep without background noise.
Although sleeping pills help. LOL! I used to however be afraid of the dark, there are nightlights in other areas of the house in case i have to get up!

  • Awwww. I bet I made my mom feel the same way with my high school “love”s. It’s so hard!

I prefer pitch dark, but these days/nights I can sleep anywhere, any time, any degree of light in the room :) If Molly is asleep I can join her in dream land in a matter of seconds.

PS I got your package and LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE the things! I have a thank you card that I just keep forgetting to stick in the box, and I wanted you to know it did get here safe and sound and we just love it :)

  • Thank goodness you’re the kind of mom who is there for your daughter.  So many walk through heart aches alone and need those reassurances a mom like you can give.  I hope she feels better soon.

A little bit of light to find my way to the bathroom for those late night ‘calls.’

  • :frog: I like a little night light on in my bedroom, or else I leave the door to the hall open with the bathroom light on, down the hall. Then, in the morning, I awake to my new sunny yellow swag curtains, that I just finished sewing, becoming bright yellow as the sun shines through them. But they are even bright yellow when it is overcast… …Love, Sande

  • Good luck with the job search. I’m so sorry to hear about Ducky, I hope she feels better very soon. **hugs**

  • she’s my husbands sister and your right, it was for the best that you didn’t find her site.  she was here visiting for Tony’s graduation and made it clear that she wanted nothing to do with my kids,(the things she did would blow your mind) that she was here for tony’s graduation.  I’ve put up with her crap for 15 years, don’t bring it to my kids or I’ll spank you on xanga :hammer:  Trey and Savannah aren’t kids I brought into this marriage, (not that if they were it would make it ok) these are Freds kids too.  :steamed:

Anyway, you press the “enter promo code” at the beginning of the touch screen.  It will then take you to a screen where you can enter your code, pretty easy.  I’ll start sharing all the free codes   I usually find one or two a week.  You can use the code once per credit or debit card, so you could use one code and get a movie with your master card and the same code to get a free one with your visa.:big-smile:

  • it was ballen8797 but curiosity got to “sassykat” today and she went to look again today and it’s shut down  :ROTFL:  Her footprints are still all over my site today.  she blogged about her trip to TX and how much fun she had with her nephew Tony, she got to see him everyday, loved him so much….. and never mentioned Tony’s brother Trey or sister Savannah.  She also pulled some crap on the Friday they were supposed to get here, told Fred (my husband/her brother) that they (her, her sister, and thier Dad) would be here at 6.  She never called until 9pm to say that they couldn’t make it, Trey waited outside for 2 hours for them to get here.  Come to find out they invited Fred’s x-wife, Tony, and Fred’s X-s family over to the house they rented.  I’m not upset that they invited the x over, they see her whenever they come to TX, it’s never bothered me until she brought my kids into it.  She’s made it clear that she wants nothing to do with me and I’ve always been ok with that but you will not treat my kids like that.  The END.  Kwim?

  • RYC: Thanks! LOL I thought so too  It actually explains a lot of things, especially the emotions. Meh…I’m due January 11th…that seems so far away now but I know that it’ll be here before I know it. Ugh….I’m so scared.

Good, I’m glad she’s feeling better. It will take some time (tell me about it) but she’ll be stronger and wiser, it just hurts to watch her go through it I’m sure. We all think our first love was “it” that’s when we realize how much love does indeed suck.
