  • Stress is a terrible thing

Stress has many nasty side effects. We’ve had some interesting experiences with stress of late. Some of it brought on by financial concerns, some brought on by frustration through dealing with with bureaucracies and red tape, and some because we no longer have the Air Force security net. Whatever the cause, or the circumstance, the stress level has been pegged at our place lately.

Poor Happy Go Lucky Hubby has really never had to deal with these types of emotions, and he just had a sharp learning curve.

Today was my turn. I’ve put in for a short-term sub contract. They called an informational meeting, at which they told us they were going to hire 15 subs. 15 subs out of the 23 showed up at the meeting. I figured my odds were pretty good. We were supposed to be notified by Friday, and nada.

What’s got me is this thought that for some bizarre reason that I can’t seem to get ahold of, I’m apparently not up to snuff. I didn’t get a job a Target, Hastings or Borders. I have all the experience necessary- besides more than enough education and for some reason I’m just not a person they want to hire. So I started getting slightly despondent. I’m not depressed. Just frustrated and down in the dumps. Now even the subbing place doesn’t want me for 1 of 15 positions out of 15 people. Jeeze.

I’m off to do some more stress relief. And maybe have a brownie with ice cream and fresh strawberries. Maybe that will help.

    Question of the Day:

How do you deal with stress?

  • Stress is horrible isn;t it! ugh

  • :frog: Hello, Annette! I did not know you were so good looking, even if you were stressed out. I do not deal with stress when I have it. I shut down, and find myself a way out.  When my daughter harrasses me for money, and calls me names, I hang up on her, if we are on the phone.  Otherwise, such as when we are in a car traveling, I just stick it out, answering rashness and irritable harrassment with calm, peaceable info, reassuring her of a way we can manage better, if I can find a way to present that.:hammer                            ..Love, Sande

  • i usually sleep and out of sleep i get dreams or oblivion… both will help sometimes… sometimes i need the nothing sometimes i need the part that sends you somewhere else for a little while or morphs into a different part of the same reality.
i’ve been stressing lately too though. ihave no real help for you though.

    COW MAKE STRESS BETTER.

  • Stress usually manifests itself in the form of digestive distress!  The more stressed I am, the more my stomach gets ‘churny’, and the less I can eat.  I eat more when I’m happy… This is a really bad time to be out of work, plus, at least here in FL, because it’s a transient population, as an employer, I generally don’t look to hire people who have lived here less than a year.  Maybe that has something to do with it?

  • aww good luck on the job hunt.  Stress is no fun!  That’s one of my worst qualities…I get stressed out too easily.

    Rachel~

  • Unfortunately, food is a stress reliever.  Then, when the stress is gone, the pounds you gained by eating causes more stress!

Did you try calling and talking to someone about why you weren’t chosen?  Did they even decide by Friday?  Maybe they didn’t get around to making the calls.  Is it possible that potential employers consider you to be too good?  Places like Target and Borders might figure that you’ll be bored soon enough and they will have wasted time training you.  Small consolation, I know.  Try not to feel too rejected.  I’m sure the right job is going to come along!  You’re way too smart and educated for someone not to grab you up!

  • Ugh!!! wtf???

me? i stuff it down, grind my teeth, don’t sleep, eat or focus on anything. awesome.

big hug!! it’ll get better soon!

  • in a perfect world, I’d :sleepy:  Sorry your having a tough time  (((((hugs)))))

  • Not fun. If it makes you feel any better, you are probably over qualified and/or over educated and they fear that if they hire you for what they’re paying, you won’t stay on the job. Someone will eventually figure out that you’re a good hire. Until then, have some chocolate, then some more chocolate. Repeat as necessary.

  • Stress affects everything, doesn’t it?  Financial concerns can bring it on like nothing else too.

Unfortunately, I am an emotional eater.  Chocolate is big with me when I’m stressed.  Lots of chocolate.  With chocolate syrup poured over it.  And chocolate brownies under it.  With chocolate topping and a chocolate cherry on top.

  • Oh, I’m sorry your stressed!  ((Hugs))

    Please don’t bang your head!

I usually deal with stress by crying.  It might not be the best way, but it’s help to have a little cry now and again.

I hope you are feeling better soon!

  • stress sure sux!!!

hope you have a lovely day hon!!!!:celebrate:

  • Thank you for your kind words at my Xanga.  I’m still trying to stay well best I can.  I’m so sorry about things there.  I hope y’all and everything will be better soon!  (((Love & Hugs)))

P.S.  I don’t deal with stress well at all.
