Xanga Lunch
I met yesterday with a great xanga lady Terrific58. We had a great lunch, at least I think so. We talked for several hours — about all things – schools, personal histories, children, travel, work, can of course, xanga and photography. I’m looking forward to spending some time with Terrific58 and my camera. I don’t spend enough serious time with my photography, I’d like to remedy that!
I put up a new background, not sure how I feel about it. I hope that it loads faster as it is a much smaller picture file, but I think I need to go darker green — opinions? Of course I’m still debating about changing the theme around here. I keep going and messing with themes, but just don’t like the overall look. It’s so hard to do anything in there. Ugh. This is the part of computing that I’m totally illiterate at — programming and design. I navigate pretty well through the rest of the stuff, but that stuff is like reading Chinese for me. It just doesn’t make any sense. I’m debating about going to a) dragons, b) wolves, c) New Mexico or d) nature — using my own pictures. Suggestions??
I’ve been spending some time over at myspace as well, but to be honest I just can’t get into it. I like the blogging aspect of xanga, and myspace just doesn’t have that. Which is OK I guess, if you’re more into instant type messaging, but why not just use a messenger program though? Again, like reading Chinese, I just really don’t get it. I know there are a lot of xangans that have myspaces and are very active with them. So I guess I want to know what the difference is and what makes myspace fun for them. See, I have a limited amount of time to blog and spend on the computer, That will decrease significantly once I start working again. It has to be fun and worth my while. I’ve been going over to myspace mainly to check in with my friend who used to blog here, but shut down her xanga. I miss her, so I’ve begun to visit over there!
Since my twokinds blog was so well received (I really do miss her) I thought I’d throw another twokinds question out there:
There are two kinds of people, those that have a myspace (and use it, just opening one and never visiting it doesn’t count) and those that don’t.
What kind are you?
Results of Morning person question:
7 people were morning people
11 were night owls
2 – were definitely NOT morning people
2 – were not really morning people but were forced to act that way
1 – was neither and just liked to sleep
and 1 morning person got up at the absurd hour of 3:05am (Baldmike2004) – he gave a perfectly logical explanation, but for me, the only reason to be up at 3:00 am is if I never went to bed!

I don’t use myspace. Long live Xanga!
I’ve never een to My Space. I have friends with accounts over there. Xanga was my first blog and I’m not sure if there is a reason to go anywhere else.
ryc: have you been in touch with sunnycaligurl? How’s she doin?
I’ve only visited My Space once. Xanga was my first and only blog. I wish people wouldn’t leave here. I’m not sure if I would ever get a My Space. I have a hard enough time keeping up here.
ryc: Have you been in touch with Sunnycaligurl? How’s she doing?
I am not and will not be a myspace person.
I am totally NOT a morning person……
Thats cool you met a fellow xangan!
I have a site on myspace, never use it………….I love Xanga…………hugs.:dancingcow::celebrate::big-smile:
I really enjoyed our lunch yesterday. I am planning photo trips already. Tomorrow I will be at TEMA furniture on Pennsylvania and Montgomery at 9 as the camera group is going in to shoot “strange angles” for fun. I learned more about my camera today and now I am really excited. Our church group will be shooting portraits on Saturday. How wonderful!
I am a mid-morning person. I love it when everyone leaves and morning has seen the sunrise. It is quiet but the day is just beginning. I feel productive and ready to get going. There are those times that I feel that late night is great for the same reasons you do. 11:00 PM is too late for me
I have both.. I visit myspace like once a week or so. Cuz I have friends over there from High School and friends that I made thru online. I don’t get personal over there.. Basically just keep in touch bases over there..
I still remain loyal with Xanga.. I blog almost everything about my life and some not.. I find Xanga have more nicer people than I do in other sites that I have visited..
I had no idea you were that in to photography! What a shame we don’t live closer together, I have 5 cameras collecting dust in my “hobby closet” and a scrap book dying to be filled with said pictures!!
Hmm…A few years ago I was REALLY in to myspace, I went on there every day and would spend hours posting bulletins and yapping with my friends but something always prevailed there which I always thought was so stupid especially at our age, the drama. I still go daily but Xanga is my best kept secret, I can blog about what happens there, here and no one would ever know. I don’t like myspace much…actually, I don’t even know why I bother to sign on anymore, everyone has my email and if they really wanted to chat, that’s how they get a hold of me. I do have facebook but that’s only to chat with my old friends from Puerto Rico. It’s very different from myspace. Xanga is my home, it’s where I’m comfortable to express myself and no matter how many days or weeks pass, I always come back here.
I don’t have a myspace and never will! Like you, I like the blogging aspect of xanga, so, nothing about it appeals to me. I got started here because my daughters and all their friends were on here, (and I was a nosy mom…)then all the kids, well, most of them, ditched here for there, but I stayed. Nothing there appeals to me….
I like the background, btw, and the green color. I don’t want to switch to Themes because I’m not sure I can learn it. Plus, I like making my own background, and I;m not sure I can do that if I switch. Don’t really have the time to learn something new anyway!
I’m definitely a morning person. Up every day by 4:30, work days at 3:30. Yep, I’m nuts! That’s why this whole schedule change is making me nuts. But, it’s not forever….
i have a myspace that i rarely check LOL i use it mainly to keep eye on what kids are up to on there.
ryc: i am talking about an overall life change….i think it’s time.
have a great day hon….talk to you soon!!!!
Morning, sounds like your lunch went well! I am looking forward to seeing the pics. you two come up with. Leaving paradise had to be hard for you? Have a great hump day! Oh yea, I have a myspace and never use it!
I am a night owl………I have a myspace only to talk to my family.
Verizon took tne charges off the bill……….
My space is for instant gratification-it reminds me of kids passing notes to each other, they don’t say much but touch base with each other; xanga is for those who like to write and who like to read. I think the gratification in xanga is to see others in normal everyday life, and to read about those whose lives are different by regional activities and such. I loved reading about your life in Hawaii and now that you’re in New Mexico and closer to your family, I can’t wait for further pictures and family outings you enjoy there. I don’t have mountains or oceans but I love to read about people who enjoy activities in this type of environment. A love peeking at others lifestyles and shsaring a bit of mine. XANGA rules for me!
I’de love to see your background of a New Mexico landscape-a picture that you took and really liked. Please don’t get rid of your turtle logo from the yellow jeep. (Was I paying attention?) That turtle is a reminder of where you came from. If you kept your background green-I would still like it a lot too.
Yep there are so many ways to make french toast……..You can make so many others….
……My second picture is really peanut and butter and jelly stuffed toast.
You can play with the stuffings and the stuff you pour over the top.
RYC; Thank you. My family thought Tin Man was really good. An interesting spin on an old story.
I Xanga only.
Hope you had a great day……hugs.
im definitely not a myspace person. i don’t understand the site and don’t understand the concept. i basically don’t get it and won’t. i think i would have to be hit over the head with a hammer before i could comprehend why people would use it.
im the like to sleep person right?
I use myspace only to check on the kids and their friends. They all let me join their friends lists.
I like the new background and it does seem to load pretty fast. I’d love to see some of your photography work though.
As you know, I have a myspace, but the only time I go there is to catch up with my cousins and to check on Sunny. I’m still liking Xanga more.
