About Last Year:  A Kween of the Queens Challenge

The challenge is to take the first sentence from each month of 2007. I sometimes included more than the first sentence in order to get the complete thought in. I also included the title for each one (that had one), as that wos sometimes a key to what was going to be discussed. My comments are proceeded by arrows, well, they are all my comments, since they are all from my blog, but you know what I mean!

    Auld Lang Syne

The song, “Auld Lang Syne,” is sung at the stroke of midnight in almost every English-speaking country in the world to bring in the New Year.

Ø      Last year I resolved not to make any resolutions — I succeeded!

We survived the Road To Hana – AGAIN!

Well we did again. 52 miles. 56 one way bridges (including one that replaces a bridge that was damaged by the earthquake) and 617 bends, curves and twists. It is not for the timid.

Ø      This is one of those tourist things that everyone who came to visit HAD to do — the Road to Hana. I survived it….4 times!

    Featured Grownups and Kween’s assignments

Well like women who spend too much time in close proximity, the topics for Featured_Grownups and for the Kween_of_the_Queens have cycled together.

Ø      This sounds worse than it is….. honestly!

    Birthday Bash

So movie night was a great hit. All of Ducky’s friends had fun and many left with new colored hair – purple, purple tips and green streaks.

Ø      In between all the chaos, we celebrated Hubby’s, Squirt’s and Duckman’s birthdays – what a month!

    Tis the Season

Who know’s where thoughts come from? They just appear.

                                                         ~ Lucas, Empire Records (1995)

We’ve been busy, busy, busy – as I’m sure most folks are this time of year. Even those that don’t celebrate any holidays are involved of end of year craziness in their businesses and lives.

Ø      And so began the crazy hectic, albeit fun, month of December, the final month of 2007.

Please drop by the Kween’s site and read and join in the fun. It was great fun to look through my old blogs, although I do it periodically, I enjoyed reading just that first line and seeing if I remembered what the heck I was talking about!  You know what I realized? I had a uber busy year last year, with confirmation, squirt starting back to school, graduation, retirement, the move, the new house, getting a job and then 3 concerts, countless visits to and from family, a ski trip and house guests — whew. I’m tired just thinking about it! All in all – a fantastic year. Here’s hoping that 2008 will be just as good if not better!

    Question of the Day:

  • RYC:  I DO know what you mean!  Thank you for noticing my growth.

  • MiLady,

Reading all of these entries makes me see just how much of a homebody I am!  I feel like there is hardly anything ever going on in my life!  I must get out more! HA!  Great entry and I liked the clarification factor you added by adding the titles. . .great idea!  You’ve been linked and starred!~Kween

  • Really nice entry! April was fun…and kinda gross! haha…

I like the name “Gaelic Storm”! Happy New Year!

  • I totally like your “additional” comments toward to the entries sentence.. It made me laugh..  Now I wanna to read them.. LOL I can see you got a sense of humor which I enjoy reading.. :)      Thanks for stopping by and comment.. :)

  • Question of the Day:

What was your favorite part / event  of 2007?

Let me add my answer to this.. I would have to say seeing my youngest son off to his first day of Pre -K school and seeing how much he has learned.. :)

  • Sleep was the best part and all the friends I made…….

Why did he redo his room cause he wanted

to wash the youngest out of his room.. and have some order.

  • I really enjoyed the personal comments you made to each entry! Cute… great post!

  • Oh heavens…living in a hotel for so long…I can’t even imagine.

  • I liked the editorial comments. Twilight Ladies? I’m joining that blogring!

A mini to remind you of Jacob B.

  • Great post!

RYC:  Yep, I do read alot.  I’ve gotten behind in posting my read, but I’m on a Patricia Cornwell series now.

Hope you had a Happy New Year!

  • I had heard about the movie but not about the casting. I like to check out SM’s website every now and again. (heads to Google to look for pictures…)

  • You did have quite the year; didn’t you?

  • *gosh! this last year went by in a blur.  As I read your monthly opening sentances, I was recalling some of the posts and saying “Was that back in July?”  THat long ago, sure seemed more recent.  You’ve had a pretty hectic year.  The one word for your year would be “change”.

  • Thanks for the soup doll. I’d probably get better faster if I stayed home. :sigh:

  • :big-smile: great post!! Im back till this computer  doesnt go out on me lol! I think  2007 flew by!Moving to maryland had to be my favorite its so laid back and quiet from new jersey.

  • This was quite an interesting challenge do as a post.

I cannot believe what I wrote for some post earlier on in the year,   2007 has been one of the best years for blogging for me so far

I have listed my favorite posts of 2007 on my blog as links

  • Ooooh the road to Hana. I’ll have to remember that :)

RYC: I’m glad you’re working on your layouts and print pictures!! I did that too, before going 100% digital. I got caught up on our family scrapbook photos through 2005 last spring, and then went 100% digital from 2006 forward. I’m working on our 2007 family album now. It felt REALLY good to get my print photos caught up :) You’ll feel so relieved!!!

  • basically i’m just glad that 2007 is over :P

    take care hon!!!

  • i think i’ve heard of that vampire series before. i have a few friends that read them i beleive. the name sounds familiar and i think if i heard it before it was probably from those two friends. none of my friends do anything outside of work and lunch because they are all married. i feel like the outcast at times because of it. the other ones are always working nights and i’d rather not get frisky with the only guy that wants to go out (it’s not a friendship he wants obviuosly).
i can’t do the shopping think anymore either. im poor. i’m resigning myself to that. and that’s another reason why i can’t get any games for the wii right now. maybe the rental store has wii games now i haven’t checked.

  • Is your head still spinning from all the changes this last year?  How is the “subbing” coming along?  Congrats on finally getting your credentials!

ryc:  Thanks for your comments about the pics.  I really loved the one of her kissing him too.  I would have used that one for Christmas if we could have seen her face!  I’m going to take more amazing snow pics this weekend.  It’s supposed to get warmer than 15 and I promised the kids I’d take them sledding if it got warmer!

  • for my favorite moment, come by my site. I did a lil different twist on the assignment and did a countdown of my most memorable moments of 2007

  • That was a neat way to look back on the year.
I think my favorite part was watching the Macy’s Day Parade with my family. It was awesome to be with everyone and experience something I might not get to experience again.

  • Thanks for the extra comments.  It helped with keeping some of the entries on target.  I tend to forget or let my imagination get away with me.

  • Nice Post, Looks like your year was eventful. Enjoy your night!!

  • Good job adding the notations. I remember reading most of those posts at the time!

Big event of 2007…my first wedding anniversary! and the release of the last Harry Potter book!

  • Dear Annette,

Thank you for your welcome to the KOTQ blogring, and for visiting my site. I think I ‘ve visited you before, possibly on Featured Grownups topic posts. Your entry here makes perfect sense. The only quibble I had with this topic is that hardly anyone thought to supply links to the entries in case someone was intrigued enough to read the whole thing!

Your “Happy Everything” graphic below made me laugh.

Michael F. Nyiri, poet, philosopher, fool

  • :so-cool:Thanks for sharing, great post!

  • I liked your approach to this challenge.

  • The notations were a nice touch. This assignment inspired me to write better (and more) blog posts.

  • Wow – sounds like you had a busy year – and that was just the first sentences talking. Good post. peace
