Here I am
I’ve been MIA for a few days I know, but I just haven’t felt like blogging. Dealing with a touch of depression, a big dose of frustration and healthy helping of wanting to just quit. The credentials process continues and I continue to beat my head against a brick wall, hoping against hope that at some stage the wall will soften. I’m afraid I’m in for more disappointments and quite frankly, looking at alternatives to teaching. Seems like the state of NM just doesn’t want me as a teacher, – I don’t understand what else I can do, but hey, I guess they’ll just have to continue hiring pedophile instead of straight A students who are exemplary employees and the worse thing on their record is one moving violation from about 8 years ago. But hey, who am I to complain?
The medical appointments continue, and as the bills pile up so do the diagnosis. Seems like a hysterotomy will pretty much take care of everything, but we’re going to try a hormonal treatment first. Guess what that means? 1 more appointment for an outpatient procedure. *sigh*. The great news on that front is the biopsy came back clear, so that’s one for the good guys!
Thanksgiving was awesome. Everyone was on their best behavior. My sister and the kids stayed with us, and hubby’s mom and sis and my folks got hotels near by. That was really good for my folks, as they got a true vacation and a real break. Dinner was awesome it included:
Appetizers included a delicious cheese ball and spice crackers (mom’s recipe), veggies, and summer sausage and cheeses. Dinner included smoked turkey (yum), baked Spiral ham, green bean casserole, candied yams (made from fresh sweet potatoes), a delicious eggplant dish, homemade cornbread stuffing with sage, dinner rolls, pumpkin pie and homemade pecan pie for dessert along with homemade jam bars, shortbread – some topped with chocolate and biscochitos. It was soooooo good. Squirt made the biscochitos completely solo and they turned out excellent. We’re already on our second batch! The next day we dined on leftovers and hubby made a delicious green chile stew which his sister made some fresh cornbread to go with it. Perfecto.
Besides piggin’ out on Turkey day, we did something else we haven’t done in years and years.
We played in the snow! That’s right, we got snow on Thanksgiving evening – about 2 inches. Not a lot, but enough for the kids to play outside for a couple hours and make a snowman. Ducky pointed out it was her first snowfall in ……forever! See we’ve lived warm places most of our lives. Ducky was born in Florida (not a lot of snow), and Squirt was born in Arizona. The last two assignments have been in CA and HI – again, not a lot of snow. They’ve seen snow, as we ski and enjoy winter activities. The last snow fall that they’ve actually been IN was back in like 1998 – when it snowed one Easter in Tucson. Ducky is really a warm weather girl, hates the cold, but she’s decided that she loves winter clothes, just not winter! LOL –
So I didn’t really take any pictures of Thanksgiving, but I did indeed take some of the snow! You know I did!
Here they are:
Here is Squirt and Niece with the snowman they built – see how nice it was snowing? Here’s Nephew making snowballs to throw for Rasha.
Rasha – who we all know HATES water, decided that she LOVES snow! She had a blast – catching snowballs and racing around the yard. Here’s Ducky, enjoying her first “real” snow fall!

Here’s the front yard at night, and then the next day, the snow melted off, but it was snowing again
Here’s the house in snow, can’t wait to get some lights and maybe some luminarias up there!

Good news on the biopsy! Thats wonderful! Your Thanksgiving dinner sounded yummy. Maybe one year we’ll try a smoked turkey. Ewww, snow! Living in Michigan my whole life, I am finding that I hate winter more and more as I get older. We haven’t had any snow stick yet, but I don’t doubt it’s coming. Someday maybe we’ll move someplace warmer.
Great news about the biopsy. I hope the treatment works for you and you don’t have to have a H. ((HUGS)).
Snow! We flew over that snow. On our way home from Texas we had a short layover in Albuquerque, NM. It looked like you got a good dusting of it. It snowed a little in Texas on Thanskgiving, but not enought to stick or anything.
The snow looks like fun! My husband LOVES snow, but I hate it. Probably because I grew up on Lake Ontario where it snowed six months out of the year. And I know how slow the process is for getting your teaching credentials transferred–I actually had to go back to school for a semester when we moved to NC. And the NC schools stink, so it’s not as if I wasn’t OVERqualified, coming from Pennsylvania. Craziness.
Glad you have good news on the biopsy, and I hope you will get the problem solved and feel better soon.
Education…OH MAN! I get so frustrated with the whole thing. I have seen too many excellent students get forced out while the no-talents stay and get the jobs. All I know is that God will put you where you need to be, it may not be what YOU want, but you will eventually get where He wants you. And it works out for the best!
SNOW??? OH MY GOODNESS! We in AL don’t like to even THINK about it unless we can all stay home! No one can drive in it! LOL! I have to admit, it looks pretty.
Signing is as my mom. Man I wish I had a Xanga now. Sure would be easier to grief and be all angry if I had another avenue. This just stinks and I am angry, hurt, scared, lonely, and everything else that goes with it.
SIGH :brokenheart:
Wow, it was really coming down! We haven’t had that much yet and I’m glad!
Hope the hormonal treatment works out. I’d be happpy to try anything that avoids surgery!
I can’t imagine the holdup on the teaching job. Seems like they always need teachers! Silly people.
That’s great! I love snow! I wish it would snow here…been cold enough at night but then it gets up to the mid 60s in the day, nice weather though. I hope you don’t have to have a Hysterectomy either, but if so…maybe you’ll feel alot better. I know the hormone thing is got to be rough. I think I’m experiencing a little hormone imbalance. Anyway…hugs to you and good luck on the job hunt!
Hope the hormone therapy works for you. Another procedure, yuck! Are they talking about a partial or complete hysterectomy? I’ve been saying for awhile that I wouldn’t mind losing my uterus at this point! Keep the ovaries though.
Sorry about the credentials mess. Can’t imagine why they wouldn’t want you!
I was wondering if you got some snow! We’re supposed to have a big snow storm here on Monday, not looking forward to it.
I’m the biopsy came out okay! The hormones gave me a headache, so I went for the hysterectomy. Best thing I ever did. So if it does come down to that, know that those problems will all be over after that.
I have not seen snow since Jordan was a baby! Wow! It’s so pretty!
I’m glad your biopsy came out ok! I love the pictures of the snow…we are still awaiting our first real snowfall of the year here, which is pretty late actually. Thanks for sharing your photos, they’re beautiful!
I’m happy to hear the good news on your biopsy.
It was cold here for Thanksgiving (not the usual) but we also had snow one day last week. Not as much as you did, but there si still something that turns us all into kids as those first flakes start to fall isn’t there? The kids look like they’re having fun.
Hold your head up, that job will come along at just the right time. For now, concentrate on health issues facing you, and get better!
Wow! Glad the biopsie was negative. Hate it when I hear about my friends having to deal withthat kind of stuff. (((hugs))) to you!
That’s awesome!!! :celebrate: I’m so happy about that biopsy result! I have my fingers crossed for the job search, the credentials thingy and the rest of your procedures.
The pics look great!
I love the pictures.
