  • Finished at last

    Whew….. *comes up for air*

To say the last week and half has been hectic would be like saying that there were a few more shoppers at the stores on the day after Christmas. I finally submitted my last paper and slide show last night. I thought I would sleep well but surprisingly found myself wide awake at the unholy hour of 5:38 am. I finally got up at 6:20 when I finally realized I was obviously not going back to sleep. This morning I have to work at packaging cookies for the church cookie walk. Yesterday I took some time out to make some cookies for said cookie walk.

I’m looking forward to some time off, in which I hope to catch up with everyone. Most of all I hope to get our gorgeous tree decorated. We squeezed out some time to buy it on Tuesday, but haven’t had time as a family to decorate it. So while it’s beautiful (an 8+ foot Noble Fir), it’s bare. Silver_Fangz named it “Freddy Joe”. Why she feels the need to name everything I have no idea.

She gets off house arrest (our term, not the real thing) on Sunday. She and the 18 yo pseudo boyfriend are still planning to try to date but they first have to pass our 3 month platonic rule and then we will see. Her and all her friends think we are being unreasonable and harsh. We don’t want to create an unrequited love situation — star crossed lovers and all that. Jeesh.

Why don’t kids come with warning labels. McDonalds has to label their coffee with hot, plastic bags have to say they could cause suffocation, why don’t kids come with a label that warns of stress, gray hair, and sleepless nights??? It would only right. Who do I sue since I didn’t see this coming??

Oh wait, I did know this was coming. I decided having kids would be worth it. Wait, that lady that sued McDonalds asked for HOT coffee and sued and won anyways, so even if I knew I should still be able to get some recompense. Right??
    Who’s with me?

  • i’m with ya on the kid thing!  youngest is grounded right now.  glad to hear from ya again sweetie :)

  • I did the same thing this morning  :(   got up and it’s Saturday too. I clean off the table and put some thing away.  I am going to have company this afternoon.

The Warning Label for kids would be in small print  Too late for me anyway, they’re all grown :giggle:  I can spoil my grandkids and give them back!

    Enjoy your break  hugs

  • Glad to hear your finals are over and you can relax a little bit more now.  They say things get so much better after the kids are grown and raising their own children.  We can only hope and pray, but in the meantime, I sympathise with you and urge you to hang in there.  It can’t get any worse than the teen years and your surviving that.  I pray she finds insightful friends-at least friends who see the wisdom you have in your age and life experience rather than the immaturity in vision of not getting what you want when it comes to decisions like this.   I know you’ve mentioned the older boy is very nice, but that is a big age difference.  (It must be very flattering to your daughter.) You’re not being unreasonable at all, *sigh, what an uneasy age…

I’ve heard of a cake walk, but never heard of a cookie walk.  It sounds like a pretty good idea if the principal is the same.

  • Me, me, I want to sue too, ROFL!

  • Wouldn’t we have to sue our husbands?  It’s like they delivered us the hot coffee…

  • I’m with you on the McDonalds thing all the way. :sunny:   Dang, you have been busy.  Making cookies and getting you tree and doing all your school work.  Wow.  You are my hero.  I think you are doing the right thing as far as Pseudo boyfriend goes and of course her friends aren’t going to agree with your decisions.  That is a teenagers job.  Uggggghhhh.  I don’t think all this stuff was in the handbook I received.  LOL.  Have a great evening.

  • Oh yeah, give me some of that hot coffee!

  • I’m in too! BTW: I think it’s adorable that your daughter named your tree!

  • so glad to hear your finals are over with! i think its a good idea what you are doing with your daughter and boyfriend.she will do that with her kids.Alot of parents would of gave in and let them do what they want. Teenager years are so hard!My 16 year thinks he knows everything and he thinks he can demand anything he wants. He thinks once he gets a car he can go anywhere he wants lol i dont think so i told him as long as he lives with us he has to follow the rules.Have a great day today!

  • RYC:  You mean you can actually get one in Hawaii?

  • Congratulations on finishing up the semester.  Kids should come with a warning.  They’re so cute when they’re little.  Then they turn into teenagers who think they can run their own lives.  I’m not looking forward it!

  • I’m with ya!  Maybe we should sue our parents.  They could have warned us, but no!  They kept begging for grandkids.

  • I’m with ya sister!….the little blondie has given Mike and I way too many gray hairs…..umm, well me gray hair, Mike’s continues to fall out!…LOL

Know what you mean about the older boyfriends thing, right now we have a 19 year old that comes over EVERY Tues (Taco Tuesday, Del Taco, it;s a new family tradition), we have this taco fest and this kid has joined us the last 6 Tuesdays, Sarah says he is just a friend, that he has a girlfriend, yada, yada yada, we LIKE this guy, he is very down to earth and very protective of Sarah, but I think things would change big time if he were to change from FRIEND, to boyfriend….I would not like to be him around Mike if this should happen!…YIKES!

Glad you are done with school, and ohhhhh to be at Kam 3 with you!….how I would love that.

  • RYC:  That would be awesome.  It doesn’t even have to be a bundle pack or anything.  Just the $250 console would be wonderful.  If you can find it yay.  :) :sunny::):sunny::wave:
