  • More Coffee Please!

Whew. What a week. What????? It’s not over yet………………..aaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh……………….it BURNS!!!

So Halloween was fun. And busy. And loud. And late. Squirt and I went over to friends house to help her with trick-or-treating and passing out candy. Her hubby is TDY for a month and she has three little ones…5, 4, and 9 months. She needs an extra set of hands. They live in suburbia, a lot like what is depicted in Over the Hedge. To say it was a smorgasbord of candy would be an understatement. Needless to say we brought home way too much candy.

    Meanwhile….back at home…..

Silver_Fangz planned to trick-or-treat with some friends, stay out late, then have the girls sleep over. (They tried to get us to let the boys stay..but ..uh …NO! — she outgrew boy/girl sleepovers at about age 4…). The number of kids kept growing. When I left there was 13 teens hanging out at my house. I ordered pizza, got chips and dip and soda.  The teens stayed until midnight. Poor Hubby, he stayed up and monitored them (I fell asleep, I hadn’t planned on it…I felt SO BAD!!) then got up early the next morning and went to work.

Yesterday about half the teens showed back up and stayed ALL DAY!!! I love my daughter and her friends, but it was tough having that many kids here for two straight days. I needed my home back! And I was quickly running out of food!

We followed that up with a three hour presentation at church of the Living Gospel of John.. very cool.

Well since I was up till the wee hours of the morning doing school work and then got up bright and early this morning, I’m off to get some rest before hitting the books again.

    Question of the day:
    Early bird or Night Owl?

  • Teenagers are awesome but by the second day I am just about whipped!!  You beat my record, which is 9 at one time.  Have a good night!

  • Sounds like a wild time! You are a brave woman.

I just saw that movie recently and thought it was cute and entertaining. I did miss the first part, but the plot wasn’t that complicated!

Night owl forced by reality to be an early bird………..:(

  • RYC:  This is actually his second bike.  He had a Honda Rebel before that.  He still needs the safety course though!!!  At least he has the full face helmet and the armor jacket.  Now he needs armor pants and armor boots.  And I need to pray a lot more!!!!

  • Sounds like lots of fun!   and what a great friend you are, have a blessed Thursday night.

  • wow 13 teenagers i dont know how ya do it! Sounds like a busy wonderfull time! Ryc yes i will look into the alarm that go off on door that is a great idea too. I will check around for that. I been having every door locked tight around here. Im usually a night owl i love the night and when everyone is in bed its so nice and quiet.Have a great day

  • I hope you’ve recovered!  Teenagers are fun, but that many for that long, no thanks!

  • Dang that is a lot of teens.  Andrew has had a few friends that seem to want to live at our house.  Since he has switched school though we don’t see those kids anymore so maybe that is a good thing.  I am definitely a night owl.  I love to stay up late and sleep later.

Thanks for the comments.  They are always so helpful.

  • That remind me when my kids were teens, our house was the one they like coming to  :) I didn’t care they were nice kids and I knew my kids were at home

Rachael Ray New book has a lot of great recipes.  I love her new show too.

take care and get some needed sleep  :sleepy:

  • I think it’s great that you let the girls hang at your house.  Best way to keep them off the streets is to make your home a welcoming environment.

ryc:  nope.  still have no clue where it came from.  I’d think it was sent to the wrong person, but it was addressed to me.  I’m think about sending an e-mail to Threadless.

  • Well, at least you survived.  That’s good to know.  I get to look forward to a house full of teens tomorrow night.  (Did I just say “look forward”?  LOL!)  I’m so good at kidding myself.  :-p

  • I think she should know she is too old for boy/girl sleep overs…..lol.

I think the Gospel presentation sounds awesome.

    xo, QE

  • I noticed you read my RSS feed… Nice site you have here. Feel free to drop by sometime, we’d love to have you

  • BOTH of our kids had sleep overs on Tuesday…but we limited each to just one friend…THANK GOD!

Do the teen girls there in Maui dress up all trampy for Halloween?…Here in CA it seems to be an excuse to dress as trampy as they can possibly imagine…seems this little trait has been happening here for at least the last 5 to 6 years….when did Halloween become sexy?

  • thank you for reading my post…did you remember to send a postcard…Smile

  • You should feel blessed that the kids want to hang out at your house — even if you are so blessed you want to pull your hair out.   My record for teens is 30 at a party.  They stayed outside except to run in for food, so it wasn’t so bad.  I opened the windows and closed the curtains so they wouldn’t know they were being monitored.  I only had to send one home.  Most of the time, though, we only have a few extras.  Glad you had a great Halloween.  I’m guessing TDY is like Navy TAD?  It was good of you to go lend some extra hands.

  •

I love teenagers! I love their outlook on life! We have just started coleading a monthly teen Bible study, having taken a break having Charis. It was so good!

Just got back online today, so trying to catch up with everyone! Hugs, Susan <><

  • 13 teens is a lot and they do eat a lot, but for some reason they want to be at your home.  You must have been very successful at making them feel welcome and comfortable and that’s a mark of hospitality.  However, I understand you can reach a limit, maybe let your daughter know privately that you need your place back.  Someone is right when they said it’s better for them to be at your house than out on the streets, and I admire you for your patience.

The Living Gospel of John sounds cool!
