  • 13 going on Crazy

This weekend promises to be busy… my youngest turns 13 tomorrow. 13!! I can’t  believe it. It seems like just yesterday that she was born. Wow. She’s having a sleepover tonight and a party tomorrow morning – early afternoon. Then we are heading for the Fair — which is a really lame excuse for a fair, but hey, when you’re on an island, you take what you can get and thank goodness it’s available! The Maui County fair is very old rides, very high cost and very little else. Everyone on the island goes. <sigh> I really miss being able to go to amusement parks and large fairs. This is really more like a carnival, but I digress. This will be Squirt’s first time attending, although Silver_Fangz has gone every year with friends.

I just can’t believe that starting tomorrow I will have two bonafide teenagers! Yikes. I’m not sure that I’m ready for that. Can we stop here?? Is there any way to reverse time?? You know what? Never mind…I would hate to have to go through 12 again. I hate 12!

Well Silver_Fangz is single again. Bad news… 18 yo is not gone yet. Although he seems very responsible and mentioned yesterday that if she was just a little older…… She is going to the fair with friends this afternoon and he is one of them. I really like this kid, but I’m really glad I don’t have to worry about this issue for long, since he’s leaving Monday. She broke up with boyfriend, and I’m glad. He freaked out when she had already made other plans for Friday. Then when she changed her plans to be with him — he was unwilling to go — it was “too late” — she had chosen her friends over him…yak, yak, yak. She was feeling so bad about herself. He’s always making her feel like crap about herself. That’s the real problem I had with him. I’m relieved that it’s over. He was trying to control her every move and thought. He was isolating her from her friends (or trying) and he even tried to isolate her from us. You know I was worried about that and the direction that was headed!

Anyways, Silver_Fangz had a bunch of friends over for a goodbye get together for Jake (18 yo headed for AF).  They hung out, ate, wrestled on the floor, talked outside, inside, tickled, watched movies. It was so good to see her happy. Her friends all wanted her to break up with him, and had told him that they didn’t like him anymore because of how he treated her. Good friends huh?

I have to go clean up and get ready for the sleepover. Popcorn, giggling, water balloon fights and movies are headed my way. Not to mention that they plan on making her cake together — and Squirt really wants to have an icing fight….I have put my foot down on that one. I’m up for lots of things, but not wiping up icing from all the surfaces of the kitchen. Uh huh….NO!

So I’m off to get ready. Have a great Friday everyone! And a great week end!

Have you ever had a food fight? And would you allow one in your kitchen?

  • tell your daugter HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! Wow 13 time does fly eh? Glad to hear that the boyfriend is gone im sure she will find a nicer guy for her. sounds like a good time at the fair too. we had food fights and water fights in kitchen and it was messy lol but fun.

  • happy Birthday to your girl and have fun at the carnival/fair. Glad the other one got rid of the potentially abusive guy. Hope she does not get sucked in again.

  • I wanna come to the sleep over.  Sounds like tons of fun.  LOL.  Wow two teenagers.  You are brave indeed.

I am glad she dumped his butt.   That is not healthy at all for her to be around.   I am glad her friends are there for her.  That is awesome.  He sounds like a not nice person.  You tell her I said she is way better off without him.

Have a great party.  Happy Birthday Squirt.  Oh and you know what makes a better weapon than icing? Cookie dough.  Easier to clean up too.

  • Ah, a sleep over, what a brave woman you are! I hope she had a great time and will have a stellar year at 13! It is a hard time isn’t it? I think it may be harder now than when I was growing up. They want a 13 year old to be 21, and give no time to adjust to the business of growing up…and then most 13 year olds THINK they are 21! You are a brave woman indeed!

Glad your other daugther broke up with that BF. I dislike very much the power that these creeps have over our sisters, daughters, nieces, and friends to make them think there is something wrong with them. I watched my sister for years as her husband tore her down to make himself feel better. Now, after 20 years she has finally learned to let it go. She can look at herself and her accomplishments and be sure that she has value and not rely on his comments. I do not want to see others go through that crap.

Food fight………that is what happens at our house when my mother doesn’t make enough of a special brown rice dish, we fight over what is left! But as for slinging stuff all over the place on purpose……..heck no! Some one would have to clean that up and I know who it would be :nono:

    Have a great weekend!

  • I’m sure that raising teenagers is hard and I really dont want to think about it yet but it sounds as though your doing a great job with your girls. Good for Silver Fangz. Sometimes they have to learn for themselves. I know it must be difficult to just stand by and watch but I bet she appreciates you for that.

Good luck with the sleep over. Beter you than me! lol. We have had water fights and oonce we had a food fight with an ice cream cake. You can imagine the mess! It’s a priceless memory though.

  • Two teenagers, I so remember. But this too you will survive. lol

Yes I have had a icecream fight, but it was outside. Happy Birthday to your youngest!!!!:fun:

  • I’ve had a couple food fights…but my favorite one was the peanut butter/marshmallow cream fight I had with my aunt and cousins when I was about 10 or 11.  It was great fun and a great mess.

  • I’m all for a food fight as long as all participants help with the clean up.
