Since moving my scrapbook stuff upstairs I have been so productive! I’ve completed about 12 pages and have about 4 that are partially completed — just need some embellishments. (waiting on a Creative Memories stuff to come in to complete them). It feels so good to finally put my stuff to use. And to get something done in a creative manner. And too not spend so much time on the computer or watching TV.

In addition, Squirt has started scrapbooking with me. She is really enjoying it as well!

It’s a real bummer having limited supplies though. Especially since there are only 3 places that have scrappin’ stuff — and they are not well stocked and they do not have a large selection. But, in 9 months I will have access to Craft stores. Woot!

Yesterday we had 10 teenagers aged 15-18 in our house for the entire day — watching movies, rough housing and eating pizza. They are all great kids. They are a lot of fun. We had one small incident. Hopefully it will be resolved quickly and happily, but in all it was a great day/evening.

There was 4 girls and 6 boys — they are all great. These are the “trolls”. I started calling them that because at school they hang out in an area they call “under the bridge”.  Since they hang out under the bridge (which is under a overhead out door walkway) I said they must be trolls…. since trolls live under bridges. This name stuck and they are officially the “trolls” now. These are the emo/punk/goth kids — mostly emo I guess. Although I’m not entirely sure. What is the difference between emo and punk?? and Punk and Goth?? — it’s  a fine distinction that I’m not really comfortable making it.

Squirt passed all her level 1 gymnastics skills today. She’s been going to gymnastics for 3 weeks now. That’s 6 hours to move to level 2. Her coach feels like she will not be on level 2 very long. He says she has natural aptitude and good form. She hardly ever has to be reminded to point her toes and keep her arms and legs straight.

Squirt loves gymnastics. She’s always been athletic. She has good flexibility, balance and strength.  ~ I’m glad she’s found another activity she enjoys. Jeesh — thats: Golf, Horseback riding, Gymnastics and SCUBA.

I think she has enough activities!

Looking forward to tomorrow — Coffee with Carie, and to this holiday weekend. We have a picnic at the church to go to monday, and I think Sunday we might go snorkeling. I think we are going to try to include Silver_Fangz new boyfriend. He’s a little (read — ALOT) intimidated by us. We want him to feel more comfortable around us. (Not too comfortable….!!)

    OK: Question of the day:

What are your plans for Labor Day? And what are you favorite ways to spend 3 day weekends?

  • My girls love scrapbooking. tracy is real good at, Laurie also likes making cards.

Laurie  has a scrapbook for each of her three kids from infant to now. She work  so hard on them and they turn out beautifully :) what a great keepsake for each of them. she will be updating too. :goodjob:

I am glad to hear that Squirt is level 2 in gymnastics. :goodjob: I love watching gymnastics.

This weekend I will be camping, and making my leather projects. I will have fun too.:)

Have a great weekend  hugs

  • As my mom said, I love to scrapbook. This weekend in fact I am cleaning my craft room up, because it is a mess. Because it is going to rain this weekend. Other wise I would be working in my garden and going to the state fair. We might go on monday though. I have been there once already, but my daughter has not. That is so cool that your daughter is doing so well in gymnastics.

  • ryc”  I’m glad to be back and it’s nice to get around to looking at xanga sites and read up on how people have been doing.

I wonder why your daughters boyfriend is intimidated.  I wonder if  this might be a young boyfriend and he’s not too comfy with meeting the girls parents.  I think your wise to take him and go do something fun like snorkeling.  Can I come?  I promise to relax and have fun with you!!!  I’m not too sureof the emo-goth-punk difference.  I asked my 23 yr old. and she wasn’t sure either.

Gymnastics is a great way for kids to spend their time.  My kids did acrobats for years and loved it.  It married beautifully to a future sport when they got older and wanted to platform and 3 meter dive.

As part of our writing/language arts/ and art class, I am having 5 of my children journal and scrapbook about or recent vacation.  It really helps them to write about something they enjoy and I always think scrapbooking is beneficial.  I understand your enjoyment of it.

My big labor day plans…well-I just got back from vacation, so that means I’m pretty broke.  I think I’ll bbq hamburgers and hotdogs one day and just relax with my hubby.  I plan to take my kids to a local theme park in our city that we have season passes for.  Last but not least, one last visit to the pool.  Everything I do better cost me nothing but gas.  I hope you enjoy your weekend!

  • My daughter loves to scrapbook too. We started doing it when she was about 5. she has several of her own and is always wanting to buy more!

  • You are so brave to have that many teens in the house for the whole day!…EEEEEEKKKKKKKK!…not that we don’t allow this from time to time, but I relegate them to the second floor of the barn where the home theater and arcade and stuff are, there was a reason we put them out there!…LOL

RYC: Mike and I would love to meet you when we are in Maui later this month and early October.  I will send you an e-mail with out cell phone #’s. since that is the best way to get hold of us when we are in Maui….we love Makawao…it’s been a couple of years since we were up there, so I think it is high time for another visit, and of course we would love for you to visit at our place in Kihei, it is a nice place, if I do say so myself….and I do…LOL

    Have a great weekend.

  • Yay not too comfy.  That might not be a good thing.  :)   Sounds like you are being very productive.  I am getting stuff cleaned out of spaces here and there so I can put it on Ebay.  Figure if it doesn’t sell , then it can go to Good Will and be out of our closets one way or another.  I am not good with the fine line definitions of the Emo,goth, punk world.  Was it a special day or just a hang out day?  Whree will you be moving in 10 months?  You should come back to No. Cal.    We have no exciting plans.  3 day weekends are rare around here with hubby in the news business but when we do have them we try to go camping.  Have a great weekend.

  • I am envious of your productivity with the scrapbooking. I have LOTS of stuff but have not worked on them in ages. I was trying to put together books for my sisters and myself and got a great start, and then quit. I did purchase a ton of supplies however, so once I get organized and going again, watch out!

I get a lot of my supplies from QVC. They have a really good variety and some beautiful papers and embellishments. If you don’t get them on cable, the web site is http://www.qvc.com , it is just like catalog shopping, and I have been very well satisfied. I don’t know about the shipping to HI, it could be high. But as you say, 9 months and you will have access to stores again!

Glad to see you and Alicia may meet when they get to Maui. She and I have been friends since college (a long time now) and they are a great couple. Mike is a sweetheart and they are both funny, fun, and smart.

Labor Day weekend, very laid back…maybe a little organizing, but lots of time with my hubby!

  • i love to scrap book too! I just bought more stuff today for it. its so relaxing and fun i think. Labor day im not sure what we are going to do yet. Probly hang out and enjoy family time. have a great weekend
