Whew.
Thank goodness tomorrow is Friday! Today was gymnastics, and horseback riding. In between we worked on Science (she had a long quiz) history, and reviewed Spanish for her quiz in that. Then I changed the sheets, gathered all the towels from all the bathrooms and the girls bedrooms and began the laundry.
My girls refuse to use a towel more than once. Not because it’s dirty, but because they throw it on the floor in their rooms instead of hanging up to dry. Last time I got towels out of oldest dd bedroom — I picked up 11 towels!!! That’s crazy! We’ve made her do the laundry, supervised her hanging her towel up every day, not let her leave the bathroom with a towel — regardless…. still she throws them on the floor in her room.
Today I took all the towels and put them in my bedroom with the exception of two apiece for the girls. Now if they don’t hang up one of their towels and take it with them, they’ll have to drip dry.
Now we have all the doors and windows open and it’s so nice out after a hot day. It’s cool, breezy and rainy. Perfect. To top it off we are listening to Alice Cooper nights and he’s playing some of our favorites from the good ole’ rock-n-roll days. It’s very relaxing.
Silver_Fangz is cleaning her room so she can do things tomorrow (new rule — if your room is not clean, don’t even ask). Squirt is playing hide-n-seek with the dog. It’s cute. She throws the ball up the stairs. The dog runs and gets it, while she’s gone squirt hides. Rasha comes racing down the stairs and starts checking all the hiding places till she finds her. She hides in closets, behind furniture and behind the drapes. It’s really cute. And good exercise for both of them! Course, Squirt is already pretty whooped, what with gymnastics (where they worked on abs) and horseback riding where she was in 2 point or half seat most of the time. Good stuff!
Tomorrow is science class and I have a coffee date with a friend…. yay for me! Course the public kids are out school as it’s Admissions Day… so she’ll have all 3 of her kids, but still — a real live grown up to talk to! Hooray!
Question of the day:
How do you get the other people in your house to help clean up? (Especially teenagers….)
BTW: One of my favorite bloggers is back. Stop by twokinds for some fun and interesting questions.
Ok, off to relax and watch :

Sounds like a busy day! Tony (ds20) has never learned to do things without being asked  which is a big deal to me. If you walk past a full bag of trash, empty it!? In his defense he’ll gladly do anything I ask without complaint. I just have to ask, I’m still working on him thought so maybe in a couple years?
Good Lord…had alot of catching up to do….nice quiz down below…sarcastic much?
Too funny what you said about 12 year olds knowing everything…my daughters killing me with this currently…or I’m gonna kill her…whichever. And I think water aerobics is a tad better than the hole drilling…hole drilling you might work up a sweat with…swimming you can at least dunk under water to cool off…question of the day for today: I don’t. That’s why I live in a pigsty. Sigh. Thanks for the reminder.:wha:
My son has chores that are his to do. If we find he is not doing them, he gets a warning. After that privledges are taken away. Like computer time. We battle this off and on.
That sounds so cute with Squirt and your dog playing hide n Seek.
Clean up? What’s that? I am the messy one in our house and my new hubby is the cleaner. He has the kitchen all nice and clean and the coffee pot set up and ready to go in the morning. Such a treasure I have! We don’t have any children at home so I can only sympathize, but I can relate in a way….I cannot for the life of me get the cats to clean up after themselves!
Can’t comment on getting teenagers to clean up. But my six-year-old knows that, at the end of the day, the “Cleanup Fairy” comes while she’s in the shower. Anything in her room that isn’t in its rightful place disappears for a while.
Busy day for you and yay for coffee with a friend. I wish I had friends to do that with but they were all associated with the old school so don’t talk to me anymore. BOO HOO. Oh wait, their loss. The one friend I do have is constantly wanting me to go to kick boxing with her. I am thinking Starbucks not kick boxing. Oh well.
Andrew has certain chores that he has to do and those that he gets paid for and he doesn’t really do any of them. Helps us out since we don’t have to pay him. LOL. He is really good about cleaning his room though because he doesn’t like to sleep in a messy room and the closet door has to be closed so that has to stay clean too. Weird. He has always been like that though. Have a great Friday
since I work putside the home I have the same problem with getting my teens to clean up. A friend of mine suggested that i write notes and stick em to the computer and to the refrigerator. When I have done this it seems to work. It’s hard to be consistent. Especially when I’m trying to get myself ready and out the door on time. Sometimes I just call them and tell them what I want done and that it better be done before I walk through the front door. If not…they do it after I get home. This summer I have had some leverage I take their pool passes away until they complete their chores. Plus I make them do their own laundry…including towels.
the girls are told they will not be able to go to sleep if there is junk on their floor. They actually do pretty well at picking up after themselves for their age. When they get older I know I will probably go insane!
Have a fun weekend!
Answer to your question of the day: Unplug the TV and computer and say they don’t come back on until cleaning is done! Mwahahahaha!
Thank you so much for the support, encouragement and comments. I really appreciate you. Have a great weekend.
