Home at Last
Well the girls are finally home safe and sound. It so nice having them back! It was nice having some “quiet” time with just me and the hubby. But boy…. it was really “quiet”! Already the status of my house has changed. I find it much more difficult to maintain the clean and orderly status with the children here. I do miss that already.
But hey, I figure I can becoming a shrieking shrew for the next 5 years or I can not worry about it so much and just enjoy the time the children have left at home. After all once they are grown and gone I can keep an immaculate house with just a little effort. <grin>
Not that I have to worry about it for too much longer, as I am heading out in just a few days for NM. I’m kind of sad to be leaving so soon after the girls returned home, but then again, I’m really looking forward to visiting my folks. I haven’t been online much lately. I think I’m burnt out on computer stuff due to school. I’m planning to do some picture posts for the next couple of days. I enjoy them and goodness knows I have plenty of pictures.
I was wondering if anyone had dial-up and if so what effect, if any, does the amount of pictures on the page have ont he page loading speed. I have some codes, but not too many, I was just wondering how quickly the page loads — anyone?? I’ll be around in the next couple of days to catch up with everyone.
As a final note:
Went to see Pirates of the Caribbean: Deadman’s Chest tonight. The movie was outstanding, great effects, stunts and filmography. The ending sucked. One of the subplots also totally is ticking me off. The ending is a total cliffhanger that will segue into a Pirates III. Aside from that, the movie theater we went to was horrible! I hate this theater anyways… but tonight it was exceptionally bad. They have lousy service (usually 1 person on tickets, 1 on popcorn and 1 at the register), they are unfriendly, the theater is old (sound system, no stadium seating etc.) to top that off they didn’t bother to turn the air on in the theater and all the shows for today were completely sold out. It was so HOT!! Arrgh. But, being as we have limited choices, it was that or an even worse theater! My only consolation is that the rest of the island locations more than make up for the lousy theaters.
Question of the day:
Favorite movie and does environment matter for level of enjoyment of entertainment?

That’s funny! I was kind bored with the movie but loved the cliffhanger ending, totally opposite! I definitely think the movie enviornment makes a big difference. If its crappy I feel like I dont get the whole experience. I’d rather have watched the movie at home : ) I never could have made it throught that long movie without a/c.
I only had access to dial up when I was in SC for 3 weeks all I can say is SLOWWWW! It was unreal, I never did get on while I was there. Have a safe trip
I have stupid dial up and I hate it. It takes forever. My mom who lives 10 minutes away has high speed and it is awesome. Some photos I can’t even download because it freezes in the middle. UGH. Did I mention I hate it? LOL
As for the theater, if there are a ton of people in there the A/C better be on especially for a long movie. I have heard POTC is about 2 1/2 hours? I want to see it. Haven’t had the chance yet and since we only have one theater here, it will be sold out for about a week or so. I can wait to see it til then. Glad the girls are back safe and sound and I know you will have a great trip.
I thnk its all about the bathrooms…I went to a theater once and the bathrooms were FANCY! Love it. Made the high ticket price worth it. Favorite movie, Animal House!
We all want to see that movie! I heard he’s already working on a 3rd pirates movie!
Favorite… hmmm… depends on my mood! A Walk to Remember, Princess Bride, Lord of the Rings, Narnia, It’s a Wonderful Life… and I have a DYI theater in my basement. Environment is huge!!
RYC: come on in and make yourself at home!
RYC: We have a gym here called Solid Impact, I don’t know if it’s local or a chain or what. They have the trainer that consults with you and then sets you up with a fitness workout based on your level and what your goals are. Then you just meet with her periodically to readjust your workout. They have all kinds of weight machines, treadmills, free weights, aerobics classes, etc. I think once I get the routine down, and if I start seeing results I will like it. Right now I’m a bit confused! I’ll let you know how it goes!
Environment not a factor for me…though AC being out would stink horribly. What do you think of that movie for a 5 yr old? Too violent? I’ve let him watch Pof the C 1, covering up the scary skeleton parts as much as possible, though I know Dad doesn’t do that…favorite movie…hmmmm…depends on the mood…movies I love: Benny and Joon, Ever After, Princess Bride, Tarzan (Disney), For Keeps, She’s Having a Baby…I could go on and on….Oh..Hook is good…and oh shoot, that one movie with John Cusack where he goes back for his high school reunion…GROSS POINTE BLANKE…took me awhile…yeah, better stop there…though now I’m gonna be thinking of movies all night long!!
Have a good trip to your folks!!!
Wow, you ask such great questions! Movie theatre environment is big for me. We have so many children and going to the movies would cost us about 80 dollars plus, depending on if we got the kids popcorn, candy, etc. So we didn’t go often and waited for the video. I received a small inheritance last year and so my husband, kids and I went to work putting a theatre room in our basement. We even have 2 levels of seating and outstanding sound system. Now, I get to watch movies in my pajamas, don’t have to listen to other people crunch on their popcorn, can dim the lights to my liking, and can stop the movie when I have to go to the bathroom. I love that room! We went to the theatre only once since we’ve built it, for “CARS”. We just couldn’t wait for the dvd.
My 2 oldest daughters went to POTC at the first showing and wasn’t as impressed with it as much as the first, but they still loved it. We might wait for the video as they said it was pretty graphic and would scare my younger kids.
In contrast to you, they loved the ending. I hate to hear of movie theatres without airconditioning. That would be a bit uncomfy.
