I was thinking about the changes we have made as we transitioned from babies to teenagers. All the paraphernalia that accompanies having a baby is replaced with other paraphernalia… it didn’t actually go away like we hoped. Here’s a breakdown.
Strollers replaced by roller blades, or razor scooters.
Car seats replaced laptops
Formula and baby food replaced by pizza and dip and chips
Walkers and bouncers replaced by skate shoes and converse
Swings replaced by books and video games
Blankies replaced by favorite jackets and shrugs.
Baby monitors replaced by cell phones
Pacifiers replaced by ipods
And finally, diaper costs replaced by tuition costs.
I always thought that having babies was so expensive, now I realize that having teenagers are even more expensive and as they move towards driving and college, the expense is sure to grow. I love them at this age though. I’ve loved each stage. So I guess I’ll just sit back and enjoy the ride. It will be over before I know it, and then I can began the financial recoup I’ll need!
What stage has been your favorite? Or which one are you looking forward to?

I think my favorite was when my kids were about 3. Walking, talking, potty trained and curious. I loved all the “why” questions. They talked to me non-stop. Now they are at that age where they have to have a reason to speak to me. They are so busy with their friends; cellphones, IM, home phone and their activities.
Great topic by the way. Love the comparisons.
errr, I’ve already transition out of the transition into! lol Sigh, now how old does that make me feel????? :whocares:
RYC: My favorite was summer vacation…if you can take it still in your lifetime, I HIGHLY recommend that you do!!!! :sunny:
:sunny: hi! soo true eh? My favorite is when they are just learning to talk and walk and learn to explore everything. And everything is new to them. Course i like it now too so its a hard one to decide lol.Ryc he is going to try to be a bagger at the commisary since he can get it since he’s 15.hopefully they will call him soon. I heard the teenagers never last long cause most people only give them a dollar!
Everytime I get to a new stage I am like “Of, this is by far the best stage!” then comes another stage and I am like “…no no This is by far the best stage.” It is endless….I love them all…but if I had to pick these were my 3 favorite:
1. The “I can hand you a bottle and you can hold it yourself” stage…that was freedom!
2. The “I can reach into the cupoard/fridge and get my own snack stage”.
3. The “I can go to the bathroom by myself stage (inc…wipeing own tushie).”
Those were biggies….
Happy Easter! xoxo, QE:sunny:

I love how you did compared things from when they were little to being teenagers.
I think I have loved something from each stage. Yes teenager are expencive, lol. They have grown up way to fast.
Yes, teens are expensive…I have a 17 yr old boy & my girls are 11 & 5. I try to spend the same amount on each kid but sometimes it’s impossible. I think my fav stage is the new born cuddly stage. I loved sleeping with my babies. I really miss that. *sigh*
I think looking back, I’ve loved each age, but not necessarily the “stage”. I am just looking forward to them being happy people. I think they are wonderful kids and I just want them to enjoy life.

I’ve loved and hated every stage and age.
(How’s that for a good non-answer? LOL!) RYC: thank you, and I will be anxiously awaiting a review of it.
I loved the 2 year old stage actually. He was so funny then. He still is but it was just all the faces and stuff he would make. I look forward to every stage. I am thankful that I have a great kid.
What did you ever do about the Rice Krispie incident? I would have been pissed.
as i dont have children yet, but have been raising my teenage sister for over 3 years – i know all about the teen part…hopefully one day i will get to experience the other side of things…
