  • Why do they do that?

Landlord didn’t bring son to be home schooled today. No big deal, I was hoping for a day off anyway. He just called though and wants me to write up something to state what I’ve been covering with “W” so he can present it in court. <Heavy Sigh> Why do they do that?? They are totally inconsistent in this child’s education. (he’s been expelled since OCTOBER). Even while I’ve been home schooling him, he’s late almost every day, sometimes by as much as 1 hour! We don’t start till 9:30 (for him) for goodness sakes. You’d think mom or dad, whoever has him, could get him up, dressed and fed by then. They say he likes to sleep late. SOOOO??? Don’t we all??? Have him go to bed earlier if he’s that tired. Sounds like he needs an 8:30 bedtime then.

One of my teacher’s has give us no grades at all. Last week she sent out a notice saying we would receive grades by mid week, end of the week at the latest. Exactly how end of the week do you think she means? I consider Friday the end of the school week. Do you think she’s waiting till midnight to post grades? Why is she doing this?? I understand the challenge to get grades out on time, but we have had most of our work turned in for 3 .. yes count them 3 weeks now. No Grades at all. None on the papers which were submitted at the beginning of the month, none of the final exam which was submitted over a week ago. Actually, no grades of any kind for the entire class. I have no idea of how she will grade me. She keeps telling me I’m doing fine, but I really just want to see the grade. Her idea of fine, and mine might be totally different. I’ve e mailed her twice now, no response. I think she’s intentionally trying to drive me over the edge.

My husband’s unit is having a barbecue today. Unfortunately they are having it at Kalama park, and we don’t like it there. It’s not very family friendly. There’s no close beach access, and when you walk to the beach that’s available, it’s full of lava rock and coral so you better have water shoes or stay at the shoreline. Their is a nice playground, but as the park is smack downtown and home to a skate park, it’s frequently full of older kids who are rough, crude, and frequently involved in drugs and gangs… not so conducive to little toddler play. In addition, there is a large homeless population that hangs out there, which while often not threatening, is a little creepy and prevents me from letting my teenage daughters and their friends roam unsupervised. (Safety first). Why do they have it there?? Well… quite a few of the officers, including the Commander and the Program director, are big into volleyball and sports and the one thing that Kalama does have is two very nice sand volleyball courts with nets. So… Kalama it is, but not for me, not today.

Instead I’ll be watching W, while the his folks are in court. Which means…… he’ll play outside with youngest dd and friend, and I’ll watch some netflixs I haven’t had time to watch yet so I can send them on back.

I’m off to get that write up done.

What bugs you that people do?

  • I know what you mean about trying to get teachers to post grades or just grading papers.  I have a wonderful English teacher that takes FOREVER to get papers back.  She does pretty good on getting tests back though.  She’s had 2 papers for a month now & was supposed to get them to us by last Thursday before spring break, but she didn’t have them ready.  I was thinking of trying NetFlix myself.  Might be a little cheaper on us.  Have a good weekend.

  • People bug me in general! They are all such commoners! :giggle:

  • HA!

    I CAUGHT YOU AGAIN!

    thought-provoking questions!

    you’re such a teacher.

  • when people tell me they will do something or be somewhere and then just blow me off.  honestly….just tell me no, instead of lying to me.  :nono:

:sunny:  have a great weekend!      jess

  • Depends on which week it is.  25% of the time, they just have to exist to bug me, but the other 75% of the time, I am very tough to bug.  :)

  • His parents need to learn to take charge off thier child. You should not have to do all that.

  • I totally can not stand parents that make idiotic excuses for thier kids, especially the ones that then turn around and blame teachers for their children’s issues.

  • sometimes it’s so nice to realize that you’re not the only one who’s “bugged” by things!! most of the time I try to look the other way and smile at the beauty of humanity, but sometimes (ha ha ha…. evil laugh) sometimes, I hate having my authority questioned especially when it comes to rules that I’ve put in place for a reason… some people just pretend they didn’t hear! or that they’re smarter, or that it doesn’t apply to them and I sit back and watch thinking, Hmmm, was I talking to myself? Nope, don’t think so. Makes me think that your write-up could have a slight phrase or two about the inconsistency of W’s attendance hindering his education – it puts it right back on the parents, where it should be.
