Professional Mom
Today was tiring. Last night Silver_Fangz made rice crispy treats to take to school and sell. She sold all of them by her 3rd period of the day. BEfORE lunch even! She called wanting us to make more and bring them to school. HAH! I don’t think so!! I had to go shopping for brownie supplies and make brownies for her meeting this afternoon. I also had to get regular shopping stuff… that involved a trip to Costco. Don’t you love stores that only have things in drum sizes. How can you go wrong with a 50 lb brick of cheese. Yeah. I need that. What I did need in industrial sizes, they didn’t have. I need about a truckload of rice crispies, and a vat or two of marshmallows. Hey if Silver_Fangz can make 10-15 dollars a day hawking sticky cereal bars that goes a long way to help defray the cost of this trip. She’s earned about 700.00 dollars so far. She still has a long way to go. But in the end it will be ohh so worth it!!
I can’t believe she’s going overseas by herself. That’s kind of scary… I mean I trust her, but hey… I’m a mom!! That’s my job… to worry. The rest of my job is to nag. Oh some where in there I cuddle, kiss boo-boos, read bedtime stories, provide a shoulder to cry, encourage, badger, teach, support, inspire, and spend an awful lot of time cleaning up after them. But primarily, I worry and nag. I’m really good at both. Hey… I’m a pro.
Not every one can be a professional…. and it takes a lot of training. I had to pass Puking at 3:00 am 101, Playdoh Removal 112, and the dreaded How to deal with Excuses 201. That was a tough one, you have to have your child get good grades in school while dealing with I forgot, I lost it, I don’t know how, I’m too tired, I don’t remember how, and It’s just the teacher, she hates me. In addition, I had to learn how to cook with one hand, balance the checkbook with the other, and keep track of my little ones, herding them with my feet. After many selfless hours, and years of hard work, I finally attained pro status. Which doesn’t mean I get paid more, or earn more recognition. But, rather that I am now capable of doing twice the work, with half the materials, in half the time, and everyone will look at me and say…Can you get me a drink?
Like I said.. I’m a pro.

Well-said! About letting a child go overseas by herself, I am not sure I could. I mean, I trust my daughter, but I don’t trust everyone else. Heck, I can’t let my daughter go to the next store over in the mall by herself!
Must have missed it…where’s she going? And HOW old is she? Love the pro bit…so true…no one but mom’s can handle that stuff…some day some politician will get wise and do something for us mothers….for now hugs will have to suffice!
I totally love this post. It is all so true about us moms. I know it was hard sending my daughter over seas to. The first time was to Africa at the age of 18 yrs and then to Pakistan at age 19yrs old. She did go to Mexico when she was 15yrs, but I don’t count that as over seas. I remember just being nervous letting her go around the block on her bike by her self. I prayed the whole time until I saw her face again, but I did let her, hehehe
Oh, dear LORD in heaven…..keep talking. That way, I won’t get any ideas about having kids of my own. At the end of the day, I get to send all mine home.
Thanks for stopping by
Great post, where is your daughter going? Guess maybe I could read back a post or two and find out, just too late tonight :sleepy:
Duh, well your comment on my site says you have a 14 and 12 year old. What’s she going overseas for?
Wow, that’s awsome. I think I have a friend from SC (where I grew up) how’s son is attending the same thing. I’ll have to ask her if that’s what it’s called. Anyway, have a good night.

Great post!!! :coolman:
Not fair! I never got to take the prerequisite classes. I was thrown into the advance classes right from the get go. Maybe that’s why my brain exploded??
Hey this is Dee. Got a new sign on name so I could comment mostly. Where is SilverFanz going? My son wants to go to Mexico by himself. He is only 13 and a 1/2 but it still worries me. He too sells stuff at school. It is amazing how much he can make selling small candy bars or whatever might be hanging around. His friend sells sodas. They both have good businesses. He will have to try the Rice Krispie Treats. I bet those would sell too. Hope things are going great and thanks for the Macadamia nuts. Yumm Yummm. D
Oh can I add that to be a pro you also have to know how to get Barrel of Monkeys out of the VCR.
