  • The Folks are Here!

    Just a quick update…..

Parental Units (ha ha) arrived on Wednesday evening. Sooo good to have them here! We met them at the airport with flower and yarn leis, and came home for a nice dinner. Today we had to take Squirt to her class and then drove around Paia and stopped off at Ho’okipa to see if the waves were coming in. They were pretty nice and the folks got to see their first Maui surfers. They were amazed they weren’t wearing wet suits — warm water though, no need. Then this evening drove Squirt to Altar Server training. While she was there we headed south to check out the sunset. Mom was very excited as I spotted a whale spout for her and when we started watching we saw several whales playing out in the distance. We even saw a picture postcard perfect whale breach. Mom was soooo excited…. she squealed like a kid! It was funny and great to be able to provide that experience for her.

Tomorrow Dad is going along while Hubby golfs, then we are hopefully (weather and Silver_Fangs health permitting) going to snorkel, then meet the Air Force crew down at a beachfront park for a Hail and Farewell. This weekend we plan on doing some snorkeling, and hopefully a Whale watch trip. Then Monday it’s off to Oahu to see the sights of Pearl Harbor and Waikiki — also hoping the surf is up so we can check out the pros on the north shore. (you know, like Pipeline?)

So good to have them here. Although mom is giving me a complex cause she won’t stop cleaning my kitchen, and is retraining my cat. (just kidding)

Silver_Fangs has a dr. appointment tomorrow as she is still sick – sore throat and throwing up. I think that after antibiotics she should be better. Then again, the dr. only gave her 5 days of antibiotics. I’ve never heard of that short of time before. I was always told you had to take them for 10 days without fail or you would  develop immunity to them. Course, I’m not a doctor, I just play one on TV.

Well it’s late and I’m burned out (finished my book — and all I can say is what a load of CRAP — and I can’t believe I had to pay money for that!) so it’s off to bed. Hope everyone has a great weekend! Hopefully I’ll catch up with you all this week end – if not, ENJOY!

  • Whale watching??? AWESOME!!!! The one time I got to go to Hawaii, I spent my entire week in the hospital, and visited the mall once. (Jess was 6 months old and there for neurological testing on her arm) No whales, beaches, or beautiful sunsets…sigh. But I do remember the smell…smelled like flowers.
RYC: Yeah, I’d stick with brain cloud…sounds cooler.

  • I’m glad that your parents made it there safely! I hope that D starts feeling better too. Didn’t ya know about the crazy new Z-Pac! Yup Yup, antibiotics for 5 days. Ya gotta love that. Its a pretty powerful dose too. Knocks junk right outta ya.
    Have fun with the rents!!

  • Thanks for the comment, sorry that I got so ranty! There is just so much wrong in this world, and we need to look towards the future and stop dwelling on the past! I am so very proud of my Indian blood, and wish that I was more Indian. (I’m only about 1/2 Indian) I just get so tired of the constant whinning from the blacks. I have African American friends that are educated and feel much the same way that I do. They do no say things like…’Yo’…and ‘That’s what I’m talkin about’…and they don’t refer to themselves as ‘brother’, or ‘homey’ or ‘nigger’. Actually, they are elders in my Church, and where one of the few couples that where invited to our wedding. (Only close family was invited because it was a very small wedding…we didn’t even have a cake) Anyway, again, sorry about the rant!!! Hope you have a nice weekend!!!

  • That Zip Pack is the coolest way to take antibiotics – once a day for five days, but the meds keep working for several days lafter that!  Have fun with your parents! (And buy SF a blowtorch – it will work wonders for her health, give her a reason to recover, etc, LOL!)
