What is up with Telemarketers??
I am so tired. Tired of answering the same questions. Tired of phone calls every day. Tired of them not being capable of reading my name. Tired of getting the same ole response to my first name. I am tired…. of telemarketers. I think I need to find out how to get on the do not call list. Is that still available? And does it really work? Or does it just mean that every time one of this people interrupt dinner you have inform them that you are on this magic list which should have prevented this call?
Every day…………… EVERY DAY for the last month I have gotten a call from a company wanting to consolidate my student loans. I have my reasons for opting to not do this at this time. They are good, valid and well researched reasons. Every time I say “no thank you” they act like I’m a complete idiot for not jumping at this wonderful opportunity! Uhhh…. who’s got a degree and who is paying the bills by harassing people endless via a telephone? Anyway (got a little sidetracked and indignant… sorry
), when I give my reasons they start telling me…. no that’s not right, you don’t understand, you should reconsider. I get so tired of having to defend my position. I do understand in sales, there is no “NO”, if you want to be successful, but honestly….how much can 1 poor grad student take?? I broke today. Yelled at the poor guy on the other end, who is just trying to make the rent, and then hung up on him. I am usually more graceful than this, even when extremely frustrated. I understand their job — I did it myself, for a whole week, I found I didn’t like being yelled at and hung up on. I admire their ability to do whatever it takes to survive. At least they have a job right?!
Ok — so I lost it a little. Told the guy “man, why do you have to keep badgering me? Why can’t you let it go? Why do I have to do this every FRIGGIN day with you people”, as I was hanging up I could hear him say “sorry, ma’am….” Click.
I’m thinking I may NOT get a call tomorrow. I’m not sure… but it’s possible.
Poor guy, I feel bad for him, having to deal with people like me. He’s not the one who’s called me every day since September, he just got the brunt of all that pent up frustration. I think telemarketers should get hazard pay. At the same time, I think they deserve a special ring in PlainOleMike’s version of Dante’s Hell, Hellular. Somewhere near the bottom I think.
Ok, off to work on school work. This book I’m reading, the author believes it should not be the school’s primary function to provide academic education, but rather a community of caring the develops citizens who care about the animals, plants (which she believes suffer) and even caring for inanimate man made object is placed above learning. HUH??? Let’s just say… I’m TRYING to keep an open mind!!!
Happy Wednesday everyone —————- AHHA!! It’s Wednesday — see????? I burnt myself today too. Can’t I just go in my room and hide the rest of the day? Course, the ceiling would probably collapse and I would be trapped till Thursday. I guess I’ll just tough it out in the real world!

go to the web site called National Do Not Call Registry. its easy you just type in your phone numbers and they put you on the list so telemarketers can’t call you. its takes about a month to put you on it but once you are on it you won’t get any more calls!! i have been on it for 8 months or so and have not had one single telemarketer call. i even registered my cell phone. check it oout you’ll be glad you did.
your much nicer than I am. the other day someone named Pedro called from Altell and I yelled at him that I have 2 sick babies on the couch so if I were him I wouldnt dare call again. ever.
so far he hasn’t.
you know what I hate is the ones I get for satellite tv. 3 times today I got a call. The thing I hate is its a recorded message. So noone to unleash my wrath on.
they outsmarted me with that one!
You dont have to say sorry for writing too long, you can write a couple pages and I would still read it. I have been asking a few people this and I think I almost get the same response from everyone and so far it has been nothing that I dont think I could handle. He and I are only dating right now but what the future holds we dont know and before hearing what you and others have said I told him I would go anywhere to be with him and nothing anyone has said has changed that yet. Thanks so much.
We have caller ID and we never answer the phone unless it is someone we know.
The National Do Not Call registry WORKS! The only people who are exempt from it are politicians, and I have started speakig to them in my politest voice. I say things like ”I’m sorry, but as long as I have to pay to educate everyone else’s children while paying for the curriculum to homeschool my own, I have no extra money to give you,” or ”Thank you for calling, but if you call me again, I will NEVER vote for this candidate again, as I have a firm policy of not voting for, nor doing any kind of business with people who care so little about my valuable time.” Guess what? I hardly ever get calls from political parties or politicians anymore.
I guess charities are also exempt, so I just interrupt them when they take a breath and say, “Look, I don’t want to waste your valuable time when I know I can’t afford to give right now, so why don’t we stop here and I’ll let you get on with more profitable calls?”
That book sounds like it was written by somebody either incredibly stupid or incredibly liberal…. Not sure I could have an open mind when reading that sort of social engineering theory!
I hate telemarketers. We have caller ID so that helps. Most of the out of area calls I just let the machine get.
I commented on yesterdays post. What is a cbox? Do you have Yahoo? I am going to get Yahoo IM. That should be fun. I already have MSN and AOL so if you have any of those email me your screen name.
RYC: That would be a LONG post about Thailand, maybe a book, LOL! But since youa ren’t the only one who asked, I might do that. And thank you for the encouraging words!!! I think the public school system is lucky to have good teachers like you, especially ones motivated to further their education once they are mature enough to realize when they are reading silliness!
hellooo thanks for the advise it really helped He actually got on the bus today woohoo! So i was excited about that. I hate telemarketers tooo they can be such a pain and im sure their job is hard but why do they have to be a pain.I have caller Id as well and i sometimes do the same where if i dont know it i let the machine pick up.Have a good day hopefully ya wont get any calls!
I just got a telemarketer call on my cell phone the other day. Believe me, these vile creatures will be added to Hellular 2.0 in the future.
