  • Leaving church last night we came across an interesting situation. We we following a car who was stopped at a green light in the middle of the intersection. We assumed that were waiting to turn left as that lane was left turn or straight. After waiting a minute a so, they finally went through the intersection straight. We passed them a lit further along and realized there were two girls in the car. Instead of talking to each other… they were both on their cell phones!!! This is not the first time I’ve seen this. I will often see groups of people together and one or more is completely ignoring the others and talking on the cell phone. Even out at dinner.

Why even hang out together if all you want to do is talk to others. It’s like…  hey want to go hang out, but I don’t plan on talking to you, I’m going to ignore you and talk to my other friends on the cell phone.

I personally think that people are under the impression that it’s cool and they look popular because… “Look how many people want to talk to me!”

What do you think about people being on the cell phone while with others or in social settings?

  • Generally, it’s rude.  However, if the person on the phone is on the phone just to get info that will benefit the whole group (say, directions or hours that a store is open or ordering a pizza or making reservations), that seems reasonable.  Anyhow, it ranks right up there with people who watch television while they have company, or my mom, who watches tv while talking on the phone…I HATE listening to her yell at some football player when I THOUGHT she called to talk to me!

  • Sounds like teenagers. My mom said I would get a califlower ear from talking on the phone so much. Though I do think it is rude when one talks on their cell phone very loudly. Some people can not talk and drive, that is for sure.

RYC, You sound like you were much more productive over your weekend with cleaning. I sound like I was goofing off. hehehe

  • It’s the way the world is now isn’t it? sad but true.. I hate when huband I go out and the kids call ever 10 mins..

    Have a great night.

  • I think if you are gonna drive and talk on a cell phone you ought to use a hands free device or pullover. Teens shouldn’t use their cells at ALL while driving and it’s a provision in Texas.

As far as in a social setting, I think you ought to excuse yourself and find privacy. Don’t talk so loud and remember the coversation is with/ for the 2 on the phones not the entire public. However, I find myself asking what did we all do before cell phones?

RYC thanks for your unending support

  • i dont think ya should  talk on a hand held cell while driving that is way to dangerous. Other times just take it somewhere and talk quiet.RYC yes i would like to hear about your trip that you where talking about

  • My sis went out on a date with this guy last week to a concert and he was on his cell phone the WHOLE time!!! He said he was sharing it with his family, but c’mon!!! So she hasn’t even called him back…kinda rude if you ask me!

  • OH- and I like the new topper…and if it’s not new, have I mentioned I’m not that observant?
