  • Mercedes Open Gala

So last night hubby and I went out without the children. On top of that, we had an awesome time, got home at 5:30 am. What on earth could a pair of old folks do out and about till that time???

    Ok so here’s the scoop.

The Mercedes Championship is in town. For those who don’t follow golf, it the first tournament of the season, and officially begins the PGA Tour season. All the big names are here. VJ, Sergio etc., etc.

Every year they have a big gala event. This year they booked:

    Glenn Frey and Joe Walsh!!!

Hubby has been occasionally working for a local staging crew. He helped set up the stage and we got backstage passes!

The show was awesome… it was especially good since we missed the Eagles when they came through. They played about 2 hours. We were right behind the guy who didn’t nothing but take care of Glenn Frey’s guitars….. he had 7 with him, for this “little” show!

Then after the show, we had to wait for the band and light crews to clear the stage, then we broke down the stage and got it ready for transport. There was 2 guys and me and my hubby. We worked our tushies off. We got done and headed out at 4:40 am for home… over an hour away!

The bad part……. hubby had to get up at 7:00 am to take Silver_Fangz to the dentist (she’s had a sore tooth), and go get his flu shot.  So I slept a couple of hours, now it’s his turn.

So, we had a great night, but I’ll pay for it today, and the next couple of days…………. tearing down a stage is A LOT of work!!

So, I got a few pictures, but they aren’t great – no flash, new camera, bad angle….the standard excuses, but I’ll post what I can save later. For now, I’m off to stare dumbly into space.

I’d better take some pain relievers as well.

  • That is so cool.  I love Glenn Fry.  I went with hubby to Vegas one year for his work.  He is a videographer and they were doing a New Years Eve show and Eddie Money was there.  I got to guide him on to the stage.  I ran cables and checked audio and all kinds of fun stuff.  We didn’t get to bed til 3 am and our flight back home was at 6.  We did have a lot of time for other stuff but it was so cool.  Have a great weekend

  • Wow sounds like you had a fun and hopping night.:fun::spinning:

  • Sounds awesome…not the sleep deprivation part, but all the rest! Oh..and is it too late to RYC and still have you know what I’m talking about? RYC: Umm…I think that’s called a Freudian slip! Yeah, and now you’re saying “WHAT is this lady talking about?” To quote” mine (husband) is totally useless” …. :) Ummm, yeah, I think the moral of the story here is if you’re gonna RYC, do it close to the day it was said. ANYWAY, have a great day!
