  • Muawhahahahahaaaa…

I love to laugh. I believe it’s genetic, as my whole family is a family of cut ups (as described in my post about my mom and dad at Laff’s). My sense of humor developed young and I often use my sarcastic thoughts teemed with humor to lighten a situation. So what makes me laugh? Everything!

    My easygoing, amusing hubby.

My pets – like messing with the cat for ½ hour just by pushing the open / close button on the remote for the DVD player.

I love humor, I love comedy and I love anything that makes me laugh. Frankly, I’m a cheap date. It’s not hard to impress me; I don’t have really high standards. You don’t have to be intellectual, politically correct or frankly even that funny. Just trying will amuse me. I love Monty Python. I grew up watching comedian greats like Red Skeleton, Bob Hope, and W.C. Fields. I laughed at Laugh In and chuckled along with the pranksters at Candid Camera. I rolled on the floor the first time I saw Bill Cosby: Himself, and then felt the urge to share him with EVERYONE. Watched Eddie Murphy and Richard Pryor, George Carlin and yes, I admit it, even Andrew Dice Clay.

I was a regular Saturday Night Liver — and an avid stand up comedian fan.

Chevy Chase and slapstick comedy tickled me for awhile.

Nowadays I love Jeff Dunham with Achmed the dead terrorist, Walter, Peanut and the rest of the gang, SILENCE!! I Keel you!

    Jeff Dunham Achmed

Dane Cook and of course the old favorites of Bill Cosby and George Carlin. I also enjoy the redneck offerings of Bill Engvall and Jeff Foxworthy. I believe that all stupid people SHOULD wear signs.

My all time favorite though is Eddie Izzard. I LOVE Eddie Izzard. Yes, he swears, a lot. Yes he is completely apolitically correct. Yes he bashes Catholicism (my own religion) along with just about every other thing, including his own country. But a transvestite in heels and make-up doing a bit about Darth Vader – now come on. That’s funny. We find him hysterical. I’ve found you have to look for the funny parts of life. There’s a time to be serious. This is usually not it. I can’t get to serious, I’ll just get depressed, so I laugh instead. Eddie – he makes me laugh. So here’s a little taste of Eddie, so you can laugh too.

    Question of the day:

    What makes you laugh?

  • that clip was a hoot! i laugh at a lot of the same stuff you do. jackie gleason never really really jazzed me that much except as a straight man to burt reynolds in those “smokey & the bandit” movies, though. one of my earliest “humor memories” was listening to bill cosby’s “noah” routine & then later one of my college roomies introduced me to george carlin…
one of my mary kay galpals likes to treat us when she gets passes to the local comedy club sometimes, too, & that is always a blast!
oh & not too long ago, kowpatty had a post about “statutory rape” involving an actual statue that really cracked me up…

  • Love SNL!  Love Jeff Dunham!  Recently heard Eddie Izzard for the first time.  Even listened to him in French.

  • Lol. I loooove Jeff Dunham.

  • SNL & SCTV gave us so many great comedy actors (still miss many of them) but the generation before with Red Skelton, Jackie Gleason, Redd Fox plus all the slapstick giants…Lots of laughs.  Some of it ageless – just as funny today as when you saw it for the first time 50 (cough cough) years ago

  • I’m like you, everything makes me laugh.  Trey asked me to scratch his head tonight, I thought he said SMACK his head….. so I did.  :ROTFL::ROTFL:  We both got a laugh out of that.  :ROTFL:

Fred makes me laugh all the time, the funny thing is most people don’t have a clue how funny  he is.  Remember the thing i blogged about about a year ago?  He walked in while I was watching Urban Cowboy and the bad cowboy (Wes) was hitting Sissy and Fred said

“Yep that’s how you gotta treat a woman” and I said “Yep, that’s how you get wacked in the head with a hot pot of grease” and he said….

“I guess I could beat you all day, what are you going to do throw a frozen corndog at me”  :ROTFL: :ROTFL:  That was so funny I still laugh.

  • I remember CRACKING up at all the old Bill Cosby albums back in the day…we used to sit and listen to them all…recently, we bought the CD’s…what is that..Chicken Heart bit? He’d listen to a radio show…scarey…he’d be spreading jello….something like that…the old Eddie Murphy…love that, too…

honestly, I love when Bette Midler tells Sophioe Tucker jokes…I hope you have heard all those…she still has them in her Vegas show, too…heard them all before…and they are STILL funny whenever she delivers them!

  • this is a hard question because i haven’t found myself laughing very much lately. it seems i am always stressing about something. or i am laughing about something that really isn’t funny because i am so stressed… that’s when i get stares. it’s just a relaasse i am needing at the time i guess. one movie that really makes me laugh no matter what and makes me just feel good in “finding nemo” my friends at work kept telling me i was like the little blue fish when i get stressed out i start going in circles and forgetting things instantly. i did that a lot yesturday.

  • Whenever I’m having a really bad day or I’m incredibly sad, I pop in Eddie’s Dressed to Kill DVD and that just makes everything better. I want to marry him. I’m so in love with him. I got the pleasure of seeing his Circle show in NYC many years back. I was just…star struck the whole time I was sitting there. Not even the fact that I was a few rows ahead of Christopher Meloni did anything for me. That was THE BEST experience I’ve ever had. I have converted many over to Eddie Izzard. He is my hero LOL. Okay, I’m done gushing…

    Great entry :so-cool:

  • Nice video clip, made me laugh.

  • I like all of the above too…………

  • Morons driving just make me angry…especially when they try to do something else at the same time! GRRR

Big Jeff Dunham fan though, and Dane Cook, but thanks for the intro to Eddie Izzard…that was great stuff…I watched like 5 of the clips! LOL

  • :so-cool:Great post and list…I love Eddie Izzard, too! I posted a bit he did about computers awhile back, and didn’t get many comments so I thought I was the only Eddie Izzard fan around.  Yes, he is irreverant, but funny is funny, and he is that! Have a great day!

  • When I was a teenager, Eddie Murphy’s “Raw” came out.  It was dirty and vulgar but incredibly funny.  Bill Cosby’s old stuff still makes me laugh out loud.  The bits about the children and “why?” and “I don’t know”.

I need to laugh more.  Everyone does, I think.

  • My son, Jeffrey, has the coolest, most awesome dry wit I have ever encountered.  He can say anything and I will bust out laughing.  You have to love it.

I LOVE Jeff Dunham!!!  “What was the last thing to go through your mind?  My a$$.”

  • @flaminredhead - I am glad to help! I recommend “Circle” and “Dressed to Kill” DVD’s for a true Eddie experience!

@dtrask - I loved Eddie Murphy’s “Raw” and of course Bill Cosby — “Son, was your head with you all day today?”…. muwhahahahhaaa

@thefoursome - I know! I love Achmed. And Walter. And Peanut. And even Senor Japeno on a stick!

  • @FlashFosgitt - Noah!! I love that bit! “what’s a cubit?”

@turtle_dove - Yeah, he actually does a lot in french — funny stuff, what I could understand… LOL

@longtimelurker - I didn’t catch it back then – I know it through reruns *nods head emphatically*. (That’s my story and I’m sticking to it…)

    @homeschoolingthem - Frozen corn dogs — muawhahahahahahaaaaa….

@NightlyDreams - I think you do need to laugh more. I love Dorie! Of course voiced by the fantastic Ellen DeGeneres!

sooo bad, just couldn’t afford it. Dang it. Next time!

  • I love humor but seldom seek it out in comedy clubs.  We used to do that.  Are you going to camera club tonight?  If you read this before and you are coming, please let me know so that I can bring your book.

  • I really miss Dana Carvey!… where is he these days

  • Like you, I’m a cheap date when it comes to humor. I love to laugh!

  • @MsCatbert2You - That’s an excellent question! I’ll have to google him and find out. I haven’t seen him in anything in ages!

@TheCheshireGrins - Right on! Welcome to the cheap date club!

  • Dear Annette,

Laugh In is one of those shows I’ve been waiting for on DVD. They have some “clips” DVDs but not the whole season (or was it two?) SNL has finally started releasing full seasons. My favorite seasons were the ones from the late 80s with Phil Hartman, Victoria Jackson, Mike Myers, Jon Lovitz, Dennis Miller on the newsdesk, and A. Whitney Brown.

    Cute photo of your daughter.

  • Death by tray.

My daughter and I had an entertaining chat at a check out the other day with the young lad serving us, about death by cucumber- we were obviously all very bored and needed some huuuuuumore in the moment.

I have never heard him before- thanks for the education.
