  • Too many cooks…

I have really been enjoying my job at Supercuts. It’s brainless and tedious at times but it’s really fun to work with other people and interact with customers all day. Even when I sub, I don’t really get to talk to other grown-ups, except at lunch. With this job I’m always working with at least one other person and there is constant flow of customers.

Yesterday was fun and hectic. There was a radio station out in front of the store I was working at. They were doing a remote for two hours. So we were slammed. I prefer to be busy, rather than bored so that was OK, but it was busy, busy BUSY! The biggest problem was that ALL of the general managers and the store owner all felt they needed to be there. Too many cooks in the kitchen. When I first arrived there were also three girls from the main office helping out, a manager from another store, and a visiting manager all helping out in some fashion, either helping at the desk or cutting hair.

I hadn’t even got settled in yet and had orders from three different people to do three different things. Now… I’m good. I can multi-task, keep things straight and get all my work done. I can not however sweep the floor and dust the shelves in the other part of the store at the same time. Mr. Fantastic I’m not. It just won’t work. They were stepping all over my work all afternoon. Not that it wasn’t great to have help. But 5 extra people and 4 extra managers that was just too much! Half the time I couldn’t even get to my register. It was nuts!  I was glad when they all left and I could just do my thing.

I’ve really been enjoying my job over all though. Today a teenage girl came in with hair to her waist. She had it cut into an A-line with the back above her neck. She donated the hair to Locks of Love. She had a whole crew with her, taking pictures and crying (she cried too, but she loved her new cut). It was so crazy, but so cool. She’d had long hair since she was 8. It was a big change.

I’ve always switched back and forth from short hair to long hair. I grow it out and then get tired of it and hack it off. Back and forth. The girls have both preferred short hair since they first got it cut that way. So, question of the day:

    Short, Long or in between?

  • SHORT!  I would chop my hair right now if it didn’t take too long for me to grow it back over my ears when I feel like letting it grow longer.  I am almost ready to go with a burr cut if possible.  RYC, thanks.  We have been getting rain but not nearly as much as you have.  We received over 1/2 an inch on Friday and we have not had any more since then.Today we are heading over to Tinker Town so I bet that we will get rained on.

  • I have had my hair both long and short. But my hair is very thick and heavy. So most of my adult life it has been short and layered.

  • I’m like you.  I go long for awhile, get tired of it and hack it off and stay short for awhile.  It is short right now, but, I can feel the urge to grow it out starting….who knows.

  • I alternate. My mom chopped all my hair off when I was thirteen and have had several hair styles since then. Right now it’s now starting to reach my shoulders. I’m going to get it cut again. I like having it short but I didn’t like the way the style came out. It might stay very short for a while.

  • Like you, I grow it long for a while then get tired of it and go short, start all over again.  Even when it’s long (like it is now) I wear it UP 90% of the time.

  • Having short hair is more convenient.

  • I always had long hair, until I was about 31 or 32.  I had hair down to my waist at one point.  Now, it’s just below my shoulders.  I just took about 3 inches off the other day.  When it’s that long, I wake up with knots in it unless I put it in a ponytail, which I hate to do at night.  I just cut a few inches off my daughter’s hair too, but it’s still pretty long.  I do put hers in a ponytail at night!  A shorter style just fits with my life right now.

  • I donated my hair to Locks of Love last year.

It’s grown out quite a bit. I think I’m at my perfect length right now, right below my shoulders.

  • Long hair for me. I had it short once, after my divorce. Didn’t like it. Prefer to be able to get it off my face when it is hot or I am busy.
