One of those days…
Ever had one of those days? I’m sure you have, everyone has. You know the kind I’m talking about. Where nothing seems to go right and no matter how hard you try to adjust, it just keeps going downhill. Yep. I had one of those days today. It started with bickering with Ducky while trying to get the girls registered for school. Not anything major, just misunderstanding, miscommunication, long lines and red tape. The regular registration stuff. That wasn’t too bad.
Stopped on the way home and picked up the mail, and found my first really unpleasant event of the day, a rejection letter from one of the Friday interviews. *sigh*
You know how that goes, you pick yourself up and plug on ahead. I got together some more resumes to drop off, dropped the girls off at the movies and headed out to sell myself (figuratively of course!). The first school was pleasant. The second school when asked what I needed I handed my resume over the counter and began “I just wanted to ….” about there I was interrupted by the brusque lady behind the desk. “Resume?” (rolls eyes and snatches it from my hand) “Fine”. I smile sweetly and say “Thank you for much, have a nice day” all the while thinking B#$%$ – you don’t have to be obnoxious.
OK, no big thing, shake it off and regroup. Head home. Run a few other errands and then settle in for some reading. Lounging on the couch. Phone rings. The Family School position is not mine either. Vice-Principal is very nice, you interviewed well, it was between you and one other, I’ll help out all I can in order to get you a position, you’re one of the strongest candidates left in the pool yadda, yadda yadda.
This time not so easy to shake off. I really wanted that one. Felt good about it. So – I’m bummed.
Cleaning up I find 4 lottery scratches. I’m thinking pessimistically that the way my day is going I won’t win a dime – guess what? I was right.
Hubby calls and I tell him to pick up something for dinner – to pick up pizza. Right now I don’t care about points, I just want something to lift my spirits. He comes home an hour later, no pizza. Instead he thoughtfully considered my WW plan and choose instead something healthier – over-cooked grocery store rotisserie chicken, bag salad (not even the good kind) and bread – which we have no butter for because I didn’t feel up to facing the commissary. yummy. So. No pizza. I eat some chicken (and in defiance of my points eat some with skin) and have two slices of bread dipped in Olive Oil. Doesn’t really help and I’m still bemoaning not getting my slice of pizza.
Hubby and I talk, but I really don’t feel like hashing my day over and over again. I go back to reading. LadyBug comes in sheepishly, holding my phone. She’s been using my phone to text her friend on, since one of her other friends dropped LadyBug’s phone in a glass of tea a couple of days ago. Hubby ferrets out that now, she has dropped my phone in the sink while she was washing her hands and it is – surprise, surprise – no longer functioning. Great. Perfect.
It’s thundering and lightening outside. I figured I better stay in as the way my day was going, if I went outside I’d get hit by lightening.
So far the only good thing about the day is that it’s almost over and that tomorrow is probably going to be better.
Oh goodie, the cable box just went out. What other surprises could possibly lay in store?
I have a lot to be grateful for – and now is the time to focus on that.
So here are my thankfuls:
I’m thankful for a loving supportive husband.
I’m thankful for two beautiful, smart, and healthy girls.
I’m thankful for all my friends.
I’m thankful for the house we live in and the food we eat.
I’m thankful for my new contacts.
I’m thankful for my freedom
I’m thankful for all of you! Have a great night everyone.
Question of the day:
What are you thankful for?

You are lucky and blissful to have a warm family.
I’m sorry you had a rotten day mom :[
I wish I'd read this before you went to bed because I would totally have given you a huge hug and we could have talked like bitter old hags.
:]
I will in the morning, though.
I LOVE YOU.
Ick. I’m sorry that you had such a bad day. Unfortunately I think we all have those days sometimes.
Today I’m thankful for being healthy.
I’m thankful that every day is a brand new day – that particular day was not a keeper! I hope today is a much better day for you!
Hopefully today will be better! I’m feeling rejected a lot lately too. I’m qualified, just give me the darn job! I’m sure you will find something as we get closer to school starting.
Why don’t husbands just do what we tell them to do?? Nothing like some good comfort food to make you feel a little better.
I am sorry that your day went poorly. Mine was just slow and no fun. Today I woke up with a broken vessel in my eye. I don’t want to leave the house now so hat people won’t have to look at me strangely. I am not looking forward to this day at all. I am thankful that my eye sight is not affected and that my health is good if you don’t look at my mental state, ha.
i’ve had days like that myself. i’m thankful for my little animals and my family. i’m thankful for all the wonderful food i get to eat (im hungry right now thinking CHEESE!) and i’m thankful for warm water and toilet paper. I’m glad we have power. And clean air to breathe. Also for koolaid when i get tired of regular old water. I’m happy for colors that brighten my eyes and make me forget my worries every once in a while. I’m glad I get second chances so often because I need them.
((Hugs)) to you . . . I’m sorry you had a horrible day. I hope today is better. I’m thankful for my family.
melted cheese.

I’m sorry you had such crummy day. I do hope tomorrow is better.
I’m just thankful that I’m still alive after all these years and have all of my teeth to chew on chocolate!
I am thankful for wonderful family and friends, good health and happiness, so many many blessings that I would take up all the space if I try to list!
Sorry you had one of those days, but it will get better and the right job is out there!!!! Keep your chin up!
Unfortunately I didn’t read this sooner. Sorry you had an icky day, I hope it got better today. ((hugs))
