  • Fourth report and other stuff

Fourth of July was great – thanks everyone who asked. We went over to one of LadyBug’s friend’s house. They have a pool and jacuzzi — very nice! They also had a huge tub of fireworks (one of the huge storage tubs) for the kids to light. They’d been collecting them for a few years. They kept buying them but for various reasons didn’t get to light them. So the kids (about 6 of them) spent about three hours doing nothing but lighting fireworks. They really enjoyed that! While they did that, the grownups sat and chatted. Two other ladies from their church were there and they were so much fun! We laughed, and laughed the whole night – and that was sans alcohol! LOL

Talking about the kids — I have to admit – I too snuck out at night. Which is why I understand. I never got caught, but I did it none the less. I feel the obligation therefore to catch my kids at everything I can and help them to see the error and (in this case) danger of their ways. Sigh. They are feeling it this week! Especially LadyBug as she has no phone, computer or freedoms. Her complete cut off from her friends has made a huge impact!

Ducky got her ACT and SAT scores back. A combined score of 1740 for her SAT and a 27 on her ACT. Not bad for no studying and only about 5 hours of sleep the night before both tests. Since this was right after Duckman had broke up with her, she was still unable to sleep well. She (of course) was not happy and has decided to retake them. She’s wanting a 1800 on her SAT and 30 on her ACT. Hopefully she’ll study and sleep this time and she should have no problems!

I’m still on the job hunt. I’ve put in application at a Hobby Lobby and Page 1 (another bookstore) as well as posting my resume online with some educational job sites. Tomorrow I’m going to go around to some schools with my resume and see what comes up. I would really like to get a job soon. Any job will do at this point. I really don’t want to sub again.

Tomorrow is also my next weigh in – we’ll see. 4th of July was rough – but I’ve done pretty well the rest of the week. I keep a veggie crudite in the fridge to nibble on with some low fat dill dip, I also keep a container of fresh fruit salad – for when I want something sweet. It’s been a big help to curb my snacking and preventing my derailment. I’ll let you know how I do tomorrow! Regardless – I feel good about the steps I’m taking and that’s what counts!

  • Good luck on the job hunt :big-smile: and tomorrow with the weigh in, I’m sure you’ll do just fine.

  • good luck on the weigh in. Matt got a 27 on his act too, he was fine with it. Jennie got a 30 and tried like 3 times to get it higher, but that was her highest, so who knows? I think 27 is awesome.

  • just because you did it doesn’t mean your kids can good job in trying in any case. hope you find something youlike soon. it’s hard finding something worth wile now that pays well.

  • Hope that you can get a god job.

  • I need to go with you to meetings!  Tomorrow I get to take pictures of little kids and I am really excited.  We really need to go and play before you get a job!

  • PS, I believe that Ducky’s scores are great but I can understand her desire to try again.

  • Good luck with the job hunt and with the weigh in.  Congrats to your dd, I think those are great scores :big-smile:

  • Sounds like you had a good holiday too!  Most fireworks that are any fun are illegal here in the big brother state of Maine.  I don’t think I’ve actually ever set off any fireworks.  All we have are sparklers and they were even thinking of making those illegal, geesh.

Hope the job hunting goes well and you find a terrific job.

  • my son didn’t take SAT but got 28 on ACT. He almost aced math, but English took him down!

  • Just stopping by super quick…Thank you so much for your kind words..I really appreciate it.

  • Keeping my fingers crossed that you have another weight loss.  I appreciate all your hints to your success.  I think we all see ourselves in our kids.  We know the road travelled and want to keep them from making the same mistakes.  I hope the cut off from friends brings wisdom on her part.  You are such a good mom to stay one step ahead of them.

Best wishes on the job search!

  • Best of luck to you for the job hunt and weight loss!

  • Great choice to retake those tests and go for higher scores. She will have better chances for scholarships and getting into the schools she wants.

As for the sneaking out…takes one to know one (and since you know!) it is great that you can help keep them out of the mistakes some of us had to make. Good luck.

  • My hubby’s been doing the job hunt and it looks like we might finally have something promising.  Good luck to you.:wink-wink:

  • Wow, congrats to Ducky on the 27!!!  That’s an awesome first score!  We only do the ACT here so I don’t know much about the SAT.

RYC:  Oh wow, you just got what Snape said?  lol  That was the moment in the book that I sat STRAIGHT up and had to breathe into a paper bag.  I hope these movies do that justice or mama is gonna be ticked!!!!
