  • Let’s get the important stuff out of the way

NCIS — WHAT????? I absolutely will throw a complete hissy fit if they actually break up the team. I was  ok with the death, we had decided that she was the only expendable one – as far as we were concerned. But…. breaking up the team? Unacceptable. Period. Point blank. Here’s my point – steak. (think Sonic commercials).

American Idol — I’m glad it’s David and David. I think they are both outstanding, but David C — is SO READY to be a star. He’s got it all. I think David A will be one too, but I think a few more years of experience will benefit him tremendously. However, let’s face it – David A rocked the house last night. Cook did great too, but he’s been better. End desired result however is still the same. Cook overall blew the doors off everyone consistently. He deserves the win. Let’s see if his fans managed to out vote the millions of text happy teenagers who are fainting at Archuleta’s feet — it’s going to be a tough battle I think! Either way they are both going to be BIG! I’m sure!

Ducky is getting better everyday – both physically and emotionally. She’ll be well physically long before she’s healed emotionally however. I think she may be getting to the point of accepting it, not dealing with it completely, but accepting that there is nothing she can do to change it, and she just has to try to move on. I might be biased, but she’s a fantastic kid and I know that she’ll find someone even more wonderful who treats her as she truly deserves to be treated.

Squirt’s 8th grade promotion is tonight. She’s got an “activity day” at school today, the pool that is on the campus (but it’s a public pool) will be open, they are having a rock climbing wall and giant slide and obstacle course. They are being provided with food ( I think it’s pizza) and goodies. What a way to spend the last day in school huh? Wish I’d had some last days like that!

More fun and games with APS – only it’s not fun any more and I don’t want to play. Ahh well. These are things that we must face and overcome right? Uh huh. I’m looking at alternatives as well – such as private and parochial schools, and jobs where my teaching skills will be valuable – like maybe Parks and Rec or something like that. Ah the saga continues. I’m bored myself with it, I’m sure you all are! So let’s talk about something different…..

Blues Festival this weekend! Woot! Hubby fixed the A/C in the Escape so the drive will be livable. I’m really looking forward to it. Friday is a street dance (they close down streets downtown and folks party right in the street), and then sat and Sunday it’s at the park. A nice relaxing weekend, just what the dr. ordered!

I also picked up to new books, my book club book, The Book Thief and Stephanie Meyers new book The Host. The next Twilight book comes out on Aug 2 — I’m stoked! I was down yesterday and getting two new books is almost better than chocolate to cheer me up. Now a book AND chocolate, that would have been the bomb. However, watching my diet again, so, no chocolate, just books!

    Question of  the Day:

    What cheers you up?

  • Excuses, excuses

I have my excuses. Want to hear them? No… fine be that way.

I was going to write an entry for the Kween’s last challenge – but I didn’t.

    I was going to write a featured_grownups entry — but I didn’t.

I did apply for several positions, (4 last week actually), created cover letters and resumes to distribute this week, and worked several days.

I started making new curtains for our bedroom windows to block out the light. We have the annoying habit of picking houses with street lights right outside the Master bedroom windows. This was a real negative when hubby was having problems sleeping. We solved it (temporarily) by hanging sheets over the blinds. Since that worked, I’m now making some curtains to permanently hang – ones that we can open when light would be helpful, like when I’m putting on my eyeliner, things like that.

Lady Bug went to the 8th grade dance and she looked terrific. So grown up. Where oh where did the time go? I have pictures, I’ll upload later.

I’m also busy helping Ducky, who is sick. We took her to Urgent Care yesterday (3+ hours of waiting, oh joy) mainly to get a Dr.’s note and to make sure she didn’t have an ear infection. With all her past problems I want to keep that nipped in the bud. Well guess what? Not only did she have a nasty ear infection, she also has bronchitis. So now she’s on antibiotics, and cough medicine with a kick. Poor baby. Unfortunately this is a tough week for her. She had AP tests this week, finals next week, and Duckman chose  her sickest night to break her heart. My heart hurts for her. We all knew it was coming. Especially when he decided not to move to Silver. We all felt like it was just a matter of time. But young love doesn’t see things logically, and even though she knew the odds were against them she was hoping they could pull it off. This is definitely not a good week for her. I just want to smack Duckman upside the head for being so callous. On one hand I’m kind of relieved. Now she can do all the things that a 16 year old girl should be doing. Like go to dances, go on dates and participate in her life, instead of waiting, and waiting. On the other hand, I’m her mommy and I just want the hurt to go away and her to be happy. I know that she’ll get there, but I hate watching her go through this.

So that’s my excuse. LOL — life darn it, interferes with blogging again. Now next week is the last week of school. I have a job fair, a blues festival and visit to Silver to take care of, then my time will open up considerably and you will all probably see a lot more of me! But for now, I have curtains to make, painting to do and some rose bushes that desperately need to be dead headed. So I have to take off and catch up with you all later!

    Until then:

    Question of the day:

Do you prefer a little light or pitch dark for sleeping?

  • News and such

So I’ve been MIA again. Frankly, blogging is just not capturing my attention. I think it’s because I’ve been working so much, I have too much other things around the house that constantly need to be done. A few more weeks and school is out, so I should be back to play more frequently then. Sorry I haven’t been getting around much. I’ll catch up I promise. Until then, here’s some late breaking news from the home front:

    • Been subbing every day, that’s been good and bad
    • The bad is, that Monday some emotionally disturbed second grader hit me – got me a good one on the arm
    • The really bad, I had to sub in his class again on Thursday, and I still had marks from Monday!
    • The good, Friday was an awesome day with a fantastic class of 5th graders — I think I’m revising my favorite grade….
    • The really good, MONEY-MONEY-MONEY!
    • Put in some more resumes, no permanent classroom yet, but I’m keeping my fingers crossed
    • Ducky finally had success and landed a job, it’s in fast food (which she didn’t want, but it’s experience and a paycheck).
    • Squirt will from now on be referred to as Lady Bug. (a nicknamed derived from a nickname given to her by her sister eons ago)
    • Lady Bug gave me a beautiful pottery bowl for Mother’s day which she earned volunteering at Project Share
    • Ducky made me a beautiful rosary
    • Hubby took us to Texas Roadhouse and a movie for Mother’s Day
    • Iron Man was excellent – fyi – stay after the credits!!
    • We paid off the escape and now own outright all three vehicles.
    • Hubby is negotiating to sell his silver BMW
    • This would allow us to get a different car for either Ducky or me, preferably one a little higher (hey, we’re little, what can we say?) and one with working AC
    • The Cooler in the house got turned on (Evaporative cooler, or swamp cooler) and I’m loving the cooler sleeping temps.
    • We may have found a church we like
    • I can’t believe that Erik is such a dolt, he officially wins the dumbest Survivor ever award, bumping James to second dumbest.

Alright, Enough bullets, I’m bored with myself, and off to check my plants (Plant Tycoon). Have a great night everyone, and HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!!!!!

  • Clean Spring!

I’ve spent the majority day cleaning in preparation of my MIL’s arrival. Besides that it’s just nice to have the house clean. It’s been destoryed pretty much all week with me working every day. It’s been a busy 3 weeks but the NMELPA (New Mexico English Language Proficiency Assessment) is finished! Woot! Now if I can just get some sub jobs for the next 3 weeks, I’ll be good to go. I forgot to tell you all, I emailed the licensure bureau after they screwed up my license, a very polite email (their requested method of communication) about who I am, what my problem was and all the pertinent details. I gave them all the specifics and then thanked them for their helped and signed my name. I got back a very abrupt 2 line email with no greeting, no signature, just a you’re wrong get over it type message. This, not surprisingly, royally pissed me off. I emailed back with a semi-snotty email pointing out in specific detail why I was indeed right and they were morons who were unable to count to 3 and 1/2. I again signed my name (but left off the cordial closing) and have been waiting for a reply. I was about ready to find a higher up to start emailing (cc the licensure bureau each time) when I finally received a reply. It again was only two sentences, however they were:

I apologize. It has been corrected.

And it was signed this time by the assistant director of the licensure bureau. That’s what I’m talking about! So I should be getting my Level II which will improve my starting pay and make it easier for me to get a job (as it shows I’m experienced). Score one for the good guys!

Now, I’m going to do some writing challenges tomorrow, and I have to go in a few minutes because my MIL is in town for the night, but I had to come by and let you guys in on some more good news. Remember (if you bothered to read) last post when I talked about who I wanted to see, and hoped they would tour. Guess what???? August is Black Sabbath month for me! They are touring under the moniker Heaven and Hell and just released a new live album, Heaven and Hell Live. Heaven and Hell is my all time favorite Sabbath album, so I’m stoked! Ronnie James Dio is back with them, fronting the band. It my youth rocker trifecta. Pretty dang cool!

Alright, I’m off to visit with my MIL, but I’m coming back tomorrow to do writing challenges and to visit (I got around to a few folks, and may get around to a few more tonight).

Take care all and have a great Saturday!
