  • Amazing….

Rush was amazing! I thoroughly enjoyed the show! Rush is one of my all time favorite bands. Growing up my three favorites were Rush, Black Sabbath and Scorpions. I loved all the good rock of the 70′s – Clapton, Floyd, Hendrix (ok and the 60s) but my heart belonged to Rush, Sabbath and Scorps. So I’ve seen Scorps and Rush, now if only Sabbath would tour, of course, I loved them back in the Ozzy days, but they were good with Ronnie James Dio too….. I’d go no matter, I never got to see Sabbath when I was young, so I’d take any opportunity to hear them live.

I’m including some videos, if you’re not really a rocker, watch the first part of the first one (with the South Park Intro) which they did at the concert — TOO FUNNY! For those who don’t know Rush, they have a song called “Tom Sawyer” – the South Park Take is pretty interesting. Then I’m including a video of Neil’s drum solo (which is quite long) for one reason —- it was AMAZING!!! Angie, I thought you would get a kick out if for sure, being a drummer’s mom and biggest fan, and a die hard rocker to boot.

I was tired today, but it was worth every yawn!!!

    Tom Sawyer South Park Style…

    Neil Pert’s amazing solo.

*edit* OK, AI is pissing me off. I think Brooke keeps getting better, and Jason worse. He should have gone home a long time ago and Carly and Michael Johns should STILL be there. Argh…… ticking me off. I think Brooke and Seyesha should have gone before Michael and Carly. :rolls eyes: What are these people thinking???

    Question of the Day:

What 1 band / performer would you go see if you ever got the chance that you’ve never been able to see?

  • Finally, I’m legal

Well I’ve finally done it. I went to DMV one more time and decided to try to get my NM driver’s license. If you remember last time I couldn’t prove I lived in NM. Since they ticked me off, I’ve been passive aggressive about getting my license. Since I couldn’t prove I lived here, I figure they couldn’t prove I lived here either, so therefore – no need to get a license. Made sense right? OK, so in truth, I knew I was in the wrong and eventually drug my butt back to DMV for another round of abuse and torture.

Today must have been my lucky day however, as it took all of about 15 minutes to get my license and now I’m officially legal. Hooray right?

Job fair on Saturday was so/so. Supposedly I’m going to be called for interviews this week. We’ll see. I certainly hope so. Of course they say that they do more hiring in the month of August then in all the rest of the months combined, so I’m holding out hope.

Well I’ve been really busy. And tomorrow is the Rush concert. So I will hopefully be around more later on this week.  Have a good week everyone!

  • Whew, busy week!

What a week it’s been. The school from Friday continued to be a night mare for both Monday and Tuesday, but we did get all the testing done there. The rest of the week has been pretty good really, fairly organized, quick, painless and friendly people. Some asked what kind of testing we were doing, we are administering the oral or speaking portion of the NMELPA – which is the New Mexico English Language Proficiency Assessment. Basically it’s to determine whether students from backgrounds that have other than English home languages, still require or require English Language Services or whether they have developed fluency. Many of the schools we’ve been testing at are dual language schools, so most of the kids are pretty fluent. It has been keeping me pretty busy. Add to that two teenagers who I can’t convince need to clean up after themselves, a hubby that is out of sorts and requiring some extra TLC, two cats, a dog and partridge and a pear tree… and you have quite a week. Not bad mind you, just … hectic.

Top that off with it’s too warm to sleep comfortably and we haven’t had the cooler switched on and you get .. whew.

This weekend is one of the job fairs I’m attending, and I’m hoping that it goes well.

Ducky lost her car keys today, not lost as in “oh no where are my keys” but lost as in “you get to walk for a week”. See she’s supposed to call if she’s not planning on coming straight home. I’m not sure how many times we’ve gone over this. A dozen perhaps. None the less, I got home at 4:30 today and hmmmm…… where is Ducky? Nowhere to be found. So, she walks or catches rides for a while. Hopefully she’ll opt to be a little more responsible in the future. Either that or she should invest in a bus pass.   Muawhahahahahahhahaaaaa……..

Not much to say, disappointed in the AI results last night, and week before last too. Although I thought Seyesha did better this week, overall Carly has way out performed her in my opinion. But hey, what do I know? I thought Jason Castro should have been the one going home.

Tonight is Survivor and last week I was bummed to see Ozzie go, but he had an out, he was just too sure he didn’t need it. Oh well. The way I see it though, Cerie and Parvati can’t win now, because they just alienated all of the jury by backstabbing the alliance. But hey, I though Jason Castro should go home so what do I know right? LOL I know, I know — reality tv, what can I say? It’s my guilty pleasure! Besides crime shows like NCIS, CSI and CSI NY, Criminal Minds — and lately have been enjoying House. Oh yeah and New Amsterdam. Thank goodness for DVR, otherwise we’d never get to see them all!

Alright, I’m outie — I’ll drop by tonight to visit.

    Question of the day:

    What’s your guilty pleasure??

  • Finally….

It finally got here. It was wrong, but it’s here. I finally got my NM teaching license. Unfortunately it not the right license, it’s only a level one, which means that even with all my experience and education, I start at a beginning teacher’s pay. Not exactly what I was hoping for. On the upside, I can apply for a job, because I have my NM license!!   Woo Hoo!!!

I did enjoy working all week. It was very nice to have something to do every day. Of course the school we were at Friday was something of a nightmare. Disorganized, we spent most of the morning waiting for them to call kids for us to test, then in the afternoon we were slammed from 2:00 till the final bell rung. The kids were called like 10 at time and there were always 8 or more sitting waiting. :rolls eyes: Then they let us know that we wouldn’t have a place to test on Monday, because the book fair would be there and they had given us spaces in the library, where the book fair was going to be held. We have 199 – no less, about 140 students to test at this school.

The previous school we tested over 300 students. We were done testing each day no later than 12:30. Usually by 11:00. They had students ready for us in the morning, and then kept 2-4 ready for us at all times. They had all the tests materials ready. They had lists of students needing tested, and absences.

Friday school, was printing them as they called them. The tested were piled all over the office, and some in boxes, here, there. Ugh. My OCD was screaming at me to take over, and organize their mess, but hey, they are responsible for the other portions, and maybe their system works for them…… Despite their disorganization we still tested over 80 students on Friday. The school wasn’t really happy to have us there, well, strike that, the lady in charge of the NMELPA testing wasn’t happy to have us there, and she suggested that they finish up the testing by themselves after the book fair, but the principal saw how helpful it would be for us to continue and finish the oral portion. After all — each one has to be done individually. Add to that, each student that isn’t completely tested means a loss of federal funding for the school… and the principal definitely wants us back to finish up!! Smart lady. LOL However we scheduled for both Monday and Tuesday at this school, and I doubt we can eke that out. Then we have to go find busy work to do. Not exciting. But, the good news is, I still get paid!

I’m sure you are all thrilled to read all about my day to work. Exciting stuff huh?

Went to a scrapbooking workshop today. It was nice to get out and fun to hang with my friend Dawn.  Now I’m chillin’ and watching NCIS marathon. Who can’t enjoy hours of D’Nozzo and Gibbs — and who doesn’t love Abbey???? So while I watch the top Naval crime scene investigator at work solving the toughest military crimes.

    Question of the day:

Are you the type of person that prefers to work hard and fast and get off early, or take your time and work all day?

  • Video and Photo update

So things have been busy around here, and slightly stressed. Hubby has been stressed to the 10th degree. He hasn’t been able to sleep, his blood pressure is elevated. He’s tweakin’ about everything, although I have to admit that he’s much more positive about everything the last week. He’s decided to put his silver “baby” up for sale, and surprise, surprise, had 4 bites the first night  and is now trying to rething the asking price. Then we’ll get a older runabout that takes regular instead of premium (that will save us some right there!) and one that is a little better in gas mileage.

I’ve been working all week – at a middle school doing a english language proficiency exam. It’s been pretty interesting and I love working every day. It’s been a nice change! Of course it’s made keeping up with the house a challenge, but hey, pros and cons right?

I’m not going to spend a lot of time, but I wanted to share some photos and the video, which finally finished uploading and transcoding or whatever the heck it was busy doing when I tried to add it to an entry! So first here’s Squirt and her friends. They had a movie night, and they started at 2:30. The chateed, played games. Then they went out to have a shaving cream / water balloon fight. They opted out of the balloon fight, as the wind was blowing, and it was just too chilly. But the shaving cream fight was ON! Here’s some pictures:

I LOVE this one! Look at that hair! Look at that expression! LOVE IT!

And here is Ducky, Thespian and Joker doing a Great Gatsby parody — Jerry Springer: white trash and all! (sadly, my daughter is the white trash….hmmm.)

Alright enough fun for today. I’m off to finish watching Criminal Minds – which is a really intense one by the way. You all have a great Thursday and a fantastic week end!

    Question of the day:

What is the most fun you’ve had with a group of your friends?

  • Xanga ho hum

I’ve been kinda on a xanga rebellion. Not only has my personal life kept me busy and had all my attention and energy, but I’ve found myself kind of unwilling to come here and blog. I had recently switched to the new private page. While it was easy to navigate, and easy to utilize features, I found it a little impersonal. Add to that the new reply and recommend features and I felt like some of the intimacy of xanga had disappeared. Now people no longer came to my site to reply, just hit the reply button and don’t bother to visit. While that’s not true for most of my regular readers, some of my visitors only came when I commented on them. The recommend feature fills my private page with all these great sounding blogs, and I spend time visiting them, and get discouraged to find they are all vacous attempts at popularity. Seemingly everyone is trying to become a xangalebrity or xanganster. These blogs are full of the beautiful bloggers trying to get more and more readers. I get caught up in that and start feeling like I have to impress my readers, make them laugh or inspire, entertain, or enlighten them in some way.

I forgot why I came to xanga and feel in love with in the first place. I came here to interact with others and be what I’m good at: honest. Honest about who I am, what I do and my life. It’s about sharing myself and my life with others. It’s about connecting with people. I don’t care if I’m popular, or on the featured page. What I care about is how Angrocamp birth went, whether or not dtrask ever got some warm weather, how jackee0779 is feeling, and whether SuzyQ_darnit is doing any better with her sinus issues. I want to know how the world’s greatest band mom and her friend Jordan are doing and what ThisIsBullDookie’s twins are up to. I want to see pictures of vjgunkel59 daughter’s wedding and hear how it went – I want to know about all my friends and I want them to know what’s going on with me. How Ducky’s doing, and what Squirt is up to. How Hubby is doing and my neverending effort to get a full time job.

Truth is, I don’t want to be xanga celebrity. I don’t want the pressure. I just want to hang out here with my friends, and do what I’m good at- be honest. So even though I may not be back as often (as I’m working full time for the next three weeks) I will definitely be back regularly. And thanks to dtrask – for letting me know I was missed! Tomorrow ( or in a day or so) pictures and videos of this weekend’s activities. They include a shaving cream fight, and a video parody of The Great Gatsby with a Jerry Springer take….. good stuff! LOL

Until then, I’ll be around to visit. I’m cleaning up my sub list, getting rid of those xangalebrities, and just keeping friends.

    Have a great Monday everyone!
