About Last Year:  A Kween of the Queens Challenge

The challenge is to take the first sentence from each month of 2007. I sometimes included more than the first sentence in order to get the complete thought in. I also included the title for each one (that had one), as that wos sometimes a key to what was going to be discussed. My comments are proceeded by arrows, well, they are all my comments, since they are all from my blog, but you know what I mean!

    Auld Lang Syne

The song, “Auld Lang Syne,” is sung at the stroke of midnight in almost every English-speaking country in the world to bring in the New Year.

Ø      Last year I resolved not to make any resolutions — I succeeded!

We survived the Road To Hana – AGAIN!

Well we did again. 52 miles. 56 one way bridges (including one that replaces a bridge that was damaged by the earthquake) and 617 bends, curves and twists. It is not for the timid.

Ø      This is one of those tourist things that everyone who came to visit HAD to do — the Road to Hana. I survived it….4 times!

    Featured Grownups and Kween’s assignments

Well like women who spend too much time in close proximity, the topics for Featured_Grownups and for the Kween_of_the_Queens have cycled together.

Ø      This sounds worse than it is….. honestly!

    Birthday Bash

So movie night was a great hit. All of Ducky’s friends had fun and many left with new colored hair – purple, purple tips and green streaks.

Ø      In between all the chaos, we celebrated Hubby’s, Squirt’s and Duckman’s birthdays – what a month!

    Tis the Season

Who know’s where thoughts come from? They just appear.

                                                         ~ Lucas, Empire Records (1995)

We’ve been busy, busy, busy – as I’m sure most folks are this time of year. Even those that don’t celebrate any holidays are involved of end of year craziness in their businesses and lives.

Ø      And so began the crazy hectic, albeit fun, month of December, the final month of 2007.

Please drop by the Kween’s site and read and join in the fun. It was great fun to look through my old blogs, although I do it periodically, I enjoyed reading just that first line and seeing if I remembered what the heck I was talking about!  You know what I realized? I had a uber busy year last year, with confirmation, squirt starting back to school, graduation, retirement, the move, the new house, getting a job and then 3 concerts, countless visits to and from family, a ski trip and house guests — whew. I’m tired just thinking about it! All in all – a fantastic year. Here’s hoping that 2008 will be just as good if not better!

    Question of the Day:

What was your favorite part / event  of 2007?

  • Remember my blog about a year round decoration? I think I found it!

       Happy New Year

In honor of the new year I will be subjecting you all to a deluge of pictures. Aren’t you excited?? You know you are! OK……. buckle up because here we go!

    First up: Christmas decorations:

My advent wreath and Nativity Scene

     Advent Wreath      My nativitiy

My mantel — I hadn’t hung my stockings yet! On the top is my angels, with this native American Angel being my latest addition to my Christmas Collection. You can also see my pouting elf and our countdown  Santa.

    The Mantel      Native Angel

Our family ornament from 2006 – Mele Kalikimaka! And here’s some pics of my village, although without a wide angle lens, it’s hard to get it all in! And although I have some close ups, I just want to share an overall — like the moon? It’s my favorite part of my village!

    Alright.. lets go outside.

The wreath on the front door, I made it from stuff I found on clearance the week before Christmas. And the small window next to the door has my Nutcracker and my stained glass santa moon.

And there are my favorite part of my outdoor decorations, my animated deer – don’t the look beautiful in the snow?

    Deer in snow      My deer

Here an overall of the outside, although it’s still pretty light so you can’t really see the lights, we have all blue, big blue with blue icicles on the roof, blue on the bannisters and blue around the windows.  It was snowing pretty good that day and I couldn’t resist taking a few pictures of our little tree with the lights behind them. You can see our Christmas tree in the left window.

Whole Front yard     Snow on branches

OK – hope you’re not bored yet, because I still have skiing pictures to post! Here we go – off to Red River NM.

First let’s start with a picture of the back of our Condo – we are the bottom condo on the end. That little building on the right is the copper ski lift! The kid on the snow board is Duckman! Here is the crew  in their Critter Mufflers — Duckman, Ducky in pink (of course) and Squirt in Purple – again, of course.

Ski in, Ski Out     The snow bunnies, and monsters and dragons

Here’s hubby showing us why it’s not smart to talk and ski! and here’s Me, Hubby and SiL.

Hang up and SKI!     Skiing fun

Here is my 70 year old Mother in Law – showing us youngsters how it’s done!  Man I hope I’m like her when I’m 70!

Some gorgeous shots of some ice – the first is icicles on the Chalet. The second is ice forming in a RUNNING river – you know what that means? COLD — BRRRRRRR

     Icicles     Ice in the river

The ride home. This was a true road trip with tons of crap in every place and very little space to sit! Don’t they all look thrilled to death??

     Road Trip

We did have a fantastic time though. We are glad to be home. I will be catching up with everyone over the next couple of days. I hope that every has a Happy New Year!!

    *edit *

For everyone who made it this far… Thank you so much for taking the time to visit me! You are a true Xanga pal!  HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
