  • About time!

Well things are finally starting to look up around here! I finally got my employee number. I didn’t bother to register yet because we are leaving this week end, will be gone till after the holidays and then are taking a short trip to Red River to ski before New Year’s. Besides that, the schools are on break. I’ll register over the holidays and hopefully start getting jobs right away. Goodness know we could use the money!

So much has been going on around here — the house is a mess — with ribbons, and packages, boxes and bags. I have a ton to do in the next couple of days to be ready to leave on Saturday. We want to be there for my niece’s birthday. Shopping and cooking, wrapping and decorating, cleaning and packing, boxing and mailing — whew. Why do I love this time of year?

You know one year I was done with EVERYTHING by the 6th of December. I think that was the best Christmas. Next year that is my goal. To be done with everything by the first week in December. That is going on my resolution list – that along with starting a Christmas savings account in January so I don’t have stretch or strain our budget at all!

Alright, I’m off to finish up my stuff (yeah, right!) I’m going to take some pictures of my holiday decorations today or tomorrow, so those should be posted soon. Hopefully! I’ll catch up with everyone tonight, when I stop and drop — ha ha ha ha!

OK, hubby sent this via email — I missed 5 – but I think a couple were trick questions!

check it out and tell me how you did

    Christmas Carol Test

    Question of the day:

Start early or wait till the last minute?

  • Congrats, I hope you can start working right away.

Sounds like you’ve got a busy couple of days ahead of you, but you’ll get it done.  I have faith!  LOL!

I always have good intentions of starting early, but I always wait until the last minute.

  • Congrats! :dancingcow: I used to always start way early when my kids were young, and be done by the beginning of December, Now that they’re older and it’s harder to figure out what to get for them, I wait for hints from them. I just finished the other day. I’m too anal to wait for the weekend before Christmas, plus I hate shopping in crowds.

  • i got 10 wrong but i’ve been singing christmas carols wrong all my life. making up the words because i couldn’t understand the words anyway.
seems like i’ve been picking up things on and off for the past month. one day christmas will be over.

  • Good luck!! I’ll cross my fingers for you.
I always say I’m going to start early…and then panic at the last minute. That would be amazing to be done on December 6th….how relaxing. There is always next year I guess.
Missed 6…that was way harder than I thought it would be.

  • :celebrate:  Congrats, I know your glad all that waiting is over.

I wish I were one of those people who bought threwout the year but instead I’m one of those people who can’t wait to give people there stuff so I still end up shopping for Christmas last minute.  I’m all done now though, now to just sit back and enjoy Christmas.

  • I missed 2 :) (I didn’t know how baby Jesus reacted in the Little Drummer Boy, and I didn’t know who King Wenceslaus saw :) Fun quiz!

I finished wrapping last year by the end of November. It sure made for a peaceful December. This year I haven’t even started wrapping yet :P I’m going to work harder on being early again next year!

  • I missed one, and it was the Jingle Bells question.  Duh!  Anyway, I thought I was done shopping last night, then realized on the way home from dropping D1 off at school that I had forgotten about the daycare providers (3).  D3 and I took the opportunity to lunch at one of my favorite places (Chili’s) and give them all gift cards.  Now, I’m done.  I usually do all of my shopping in one marathon day about a week after Thanksgiving.  Mom’s health threw a wrench in it this year.  Have a very Merry Christmas.  Glad to hear your credentialing snafu is over.  Good things are in store for the new year.

  • hmmm, I missed 2 and now I have a multitude of Christmas carol stuck in my head….

It sounds like you have a full and busy weekend coming up, so I’ll wish you a Merry Christmas tonight.  I have never gotten my shopping done early and it really aggravates me too.  I feel so pressed to finish it all and find myself up wrapping presents until the wee hours the day before Christmas Eve.  (our gathering is Christmas Eve…)  Someday, I keep hoping…someday I’ll get done early…

  • I missed one, because I overthought it and changed my answer!  Silly me!

The answer to the question would have to be both!  I started early but with extra work this year, it’s a tossup whether I actually finish in time, and corners will have to be cut.  I have to do my baking by Thanksgiving and freeze it or I just run out of time.  That’s the only thing that really bothers me about this year.  No time for baking!

  • In answer to today’s questions, I do both.  I buy all the presents early, but I put off Christmas cards, decorations, and present wrapping to the last minute.

  • Merry Christmas! have a great holiday and enjoy yourselves!

  • RYC; I’m surprised you weren’t on there either, but you are now. Sorry.
