Caution: Women’s post ahead ~
No need to panic!
I mentioned in yesterday’s post that I had a biopsy and a sonogram done – but this is all ruling out stuff. No one thinks that there is anything to be even remotely concerned about. Seems I have Menorrhagia and possibly PCOS – although that is in some doubt now because of the sonogram. I hope that my dx of PCOS is not thrown out though because I am finally starting to lose weight with this new medicine. And here’s the kicker, I lost weight DURING my period and while totally ignoring my diet (eating cookies every night etc.) and not working out AT ALL. After 7 years of not being able to lose even one dang pound, you can bet I was pretty freakin’ happy. I also have an enlarged uterus and some sort of glandular membrane in my lining, Adenomyosis, or something like that, didn’t understand that at all – but maybe if I get all this crap fixed I’ll start feeling better, losing weight and not suffering so much once a month.
The biopsy was just my doctor being careful and ruling out everything before starting me on any treatment. It was a uterine pipelle biopsy, outpatient, fairly simple but not pleasant. I’ll have all the results in a week and will meet with my doctor to discuss treatment options. Evidently I’m a mess in that area, more than just severe periods from – well you know where.
The only reason I got concerned was about age 38 my mom had to have an emergency hysterectomy due to hemorrhaging. I didn’t want that! If I have to have one, let’s plan it so I don’t have to deal with blood transfusions etc. Hopefully I won’t have to have one. I don’t know exactly what the pros and cons are, but these days any surgery seems to be a risk, especially with all the staph infections and crap. Anyways, I’m feeling ok about it, I just hope that I get to stay on this medicine, because I am REALLY ready to lose some dang weight!
Thanks for all your concerns, I really appreciate it! If anyone has any personal experiences with any of this stuff, please share it with me, as I would love to get someone’s take on this. Feel free to message me privately. OK – off to clean. MIL is coming tomorrow, have to have the house ready for inspection – mauahhahahahaaa.
Have a great week if I don’t get back to you all. Everyone have a happy Thanksgiving!

Oh, you had an endometrial biopsy? I had one when I was having menorrhagia and dysmenorrhea. That crap hurts!!! Did you have a suction biopsy? That’s what I had.
I didn’t have adenomyosis. I had endometriosis. The bad thing about that was they never diagnosed it until they did my hysterectomy. They got it all though and hopefully it won’t come back on my ovaries.
So you have PCOS? They must have put you on an insulin-resistance med. That all kind of goes hand in hand. I’m so glad it’s working!
Don’t I sound smart? GYN is my specialty. :wink-wink:

Hope your doing well……….it all sounds scary……
Rule out early menopause too…..take care we wuvs ya.
Glad you liked the recipes……
Yeah ryc oh_mother I need a little rest getting
ready for the cooking part…..coming up fast.
Happy Thanksgiving.
It’s funny how most women embrace a diagnosis of PCOS. I was diagnosed with it when I was 12 or 13 – so about 20 years ago. Good luck!
Eat to be healthy……………..I know what you are going through…..hugs. :big-smile:
RYC: No, I don’t have PCOS that I know of. Of course, I’ve never been tested for it. Maybe they should test me because I sure have a lot of the signs of it. I had my hysterectomy back in 2001, and I should have had it a LOT sooner. It helped a lot.
It pays to be a medical transcriptionist, I tell you. My mother calls me to diagnose her all the time. You would be amazed at how many times I’m right. lol I’m only good with OB/GYN and cardiology though, and some urology. I absolutely suck at orthopedics.
A Rebel, huh? I had no idea you were a motorcycle enthusiast!! It would have been fun to do that in Maui.
ok, I could write a book about your topic up there….my “H” was the best thing I absolutely EVER did….and I even got to keep my “O’s” at age 40….now at 47 I am even mostly done with “M” and it’s all good….not even bad symptoms….I have to eat good to avoid them, but I pay the price if I want to induldge in sugar and bad carbs….
anyway, it is wonderful NOT having to DEAL with, well…..all that I had to DEAL with for what seemed like my whole life….I can GO places never worry about anything anymore….you know what I mean….it was very “freeing” to not have the “baggage” all the time…and I do mean all the time, because it was certainly more than just a few days a month!! elective is best if you can get it done…don’t wait to get as sick and weak as I got!!
happy thanksgiving….we all have much to be thankful for!
I’d love to lose just my uterus and end this monthly nightmare! I was never regular until I had my tubes tied. Nobody told me that would happen, yuck!
Hope everything turns out okay. Where can I get me some of those magical pills to lose weight???
Have you talked to Deanna? How’s she holding up?
i bet you had to have a lot of visits to the gyno for all of this. ihate that kind of thing. glad you’re feeling good and loosing weight though. i wish i coud loose just a few pounds. 10 would be nice. i guess i have to get up and do smeting to do that though
im too lazy!
I had to have an MRI about a month ago for “lower torso issues” as my husband calls he–mine are not necessarily ‘girl’ problems because I also have some divirticulitis. But they wanted to make sure there were no funky uterus things going on. I told them just to take the sucker out–I wasn’t using it anymore and they were welcome to it. They weren’t interested in a used uterus. Go figure.
Well, I am past all of that now – finally! But I remember what a (literal) pain it was! If you can get any kind of relief, go for it – and losing weight is a great bonus!
I can honestly say a hysterectomy was probably the best thing I could have ever had done!
I was 39. I feel great. It was planned….. I hope you get it all straightened out!
I’m sorry to have not known you were having problems, but I am relieved that you feel pretty certain there is nothing to be concerned about. I wish you the best and relief from the monthly suffering. It seems the general consensus from everyone whose had it sone thinks a hysterectomy is a good idea. That surprises me as I always thought getting one was something you should want to avoid. In your case, I hope they can get you fixed-whatever it takes.
Congrats on that weight loss!
((HUGS)) Have you gotten your results yet? I hope it’s nothing major.
