Treats and tricks
First of all for anyone who was looking for my protected post, forget it. I typed a lonnnnnnnggggg post, hit SAVE CHANGES and pop – “sorry, Internet Explores can not display the page” — arghhhhh! Gone. just like that. I might get back to it, might not. But yesterday was a swamper. I cleaned up the house, finished making costumes late — all the little finishing touches you know? Then cleaned up the craft room some what and finally hit the sack around 1;00 am. The girls got up early and I was up with them. Ducky wore her costume to school, Squirt opted not to.
Then I cleaned the house – vacuuming, sweeping, cleaning bathrooms and even picked up the girls’ rooms as they were having friends over from after school onwards.
Squirt and Candi carved our pumpkins after school. Ducky had friends with her from the time I picked her up – the night got progressively more hectic, but all in a fun way.
Here are pictures of the costumes:
First Ducky’s awesome Columbia costume. The jacket was the hardest, we had a old tailcoat from a prior costume, I covered that with the gold sequined material, and the lapels with black sequined materials. I made the bow-tie from scratch. Sewed up a hat band, cut off some capris, hemmed them and added the ribbons. The rest was bought, or from stuff we had. It turned out GREAT!!!!
Here’s her with her friends, there was a Frankenfurter and a Magenta – also a great Joker and a friend who decided at the last minute to NOT be Janet.
Now Squirt’s costume. We bought a pink track suit and added purple fleece stripes. I made a great tail which you can’t see in these pics… and some ears. Squirt made the mask out of model magic and painted it, the smile was painted with glow-in-the dark paint, so the smile actually glowed, very fitting.
Now here’s Squirt with her friends – a fat farm girl and the fourth horseman of the Apocalypse.
Now here’s pictures of niece and nephew — Nephew and I made his costume our of sweats and the freaky fabric (basically dyed cheesecloth). And Niece went as Hermione, I guess she did her hair up and had knee socks, the rest we put together from stuff we had here, and hubby made her an awesome wand.
And finally a glimpse of our house – you can’t see the strobe lights, the caution tape at the front, the creepy skeleton silhouette in the upstairs window, the wizard and bones in the front yard or the skeleton and creepy fabric hanging from the basketball hoop, but you get the idea.
All in all a very sweet holiday! Today I have to empty the hutch and book shelf I’m taking down to Silver, pick up the truck I rented and get ready for my trip. I’m bringing back some antiques we’ve purchased from various people my folks know. I’ll also be able to help my sister finish moving the last of her stuff. I’ll let you guys know how everything goes.
