  • Well there you go….

I’ve been trying to come up with ideas for some of the challenges on writing sites I belong to. And while I’ve got a few ideas, I’m unmotivated to post them. Truth be told I’m just unmotivated this week. I think I’m taking a mental break. I would love to just go do some retail therapy, and we had a mini session yesterday, but in truth, with no jobs, retail therapy is a bad life choice. So, instead, I’m marathon watching chick flicks. Not quite as much fun, but entertaining none the less.

Duckman bought his ticket. He will be arriving on early morning on the 27th. They hope to attend a concert that night. We’ll see how that goes. I’m actually looking forward to having him around again, although will be bolting Ducky’s door at night. Muahahahahahahaha. Actually it won’t be a problem because they know any inappropriate behavior will land Duckman in Silver City with his grandparents for the 10 days. And although we are going to make a trip down there, he doesn’t want to stay there the whole time (kinda defeats the purpose of the trip).

State fair is in town. Thought we’d check it out when hubby gets home. Girls are excited. A real fair. With rides that are decent, a real midway and the whole thing doesn’t cost an arm and leg.

We bleached Ducky’s hair last night. She was going to go pink, but liked the white/blonde look and decided to keep it for a few days. I’m trying something new with my hair, if it works out I might even post a picture – *gasp*.

Squirt had a freund from school spend the night. We nicknamed her. She is now “Candi”. Won’t go into the reasons, but one short day at our house and she’s been nicknamed.

I’ve got to take some pictures and post them. I got my class ring which I love. I also had my dad bring down the cradle he made for me when I was pregnant with Ducky. It’s and old fashioned kind with rockers and hood. I had him make it out of maple to match the crib set we had bought. I love my cradle. It’s gorgeous! He made my sister a spindle cradle. It’s beautiful too, but I love mine more! If I was more motivated, I’d get my camera out. Sigh. Maybe tomorrow.

I’m off, the girls made pancakes and they smell delicious. They are calling my name……

    Question of the day:

What’s your favorite piece of furniture and why?

  • Kween of the Queens challenge

Our dear Kween has issued a new challenge. Since I was coming up with complete blanks for entries (my how boring my life is these days) I thought I would participate. I’ve missed quite a few challenges, both here and for featured grownups, but since my life has returned to it’s boring normal state, I foresee more participation on my part in the immediate future…………muawahahahahhahaha.

Alright, enough dawdling, here we go:

The Kween has issued a challenge of completing one of the challenges that she has listed on her site from the past. It’s a blast from the past! So, I choose a recent blast that I missed.

We are all coming to the end of yet another summer.  With the new school year either in session or in the near future, let us reflect:

     SUMMER

What was the best part of the past summer for you?  Give us details. Did you have any life lessons?  This challenge is the equivelent of “What I did on my Summer Vacation”, so make it your own!

    Remember:

Come back to the site to let me know that you’ve posted (leave a link address or just tell me you’ve posted).  Go to as many of the sites as you possibly can and leave comments and don’t forget to GIVE STARS!  You know you’d want everyone to leave you some!

Ahhhh…. what I did on my summer vacation! I’m not really sure this counts, as my regular readers all know what’s been going on with me this summer. But for those who have missed it, or those who read with their eyes closed – here’s a synopsis.

My summer was filled with major events and life changes. They say that some of the top stressors involve moving, changing jobs, retirement. Well, I’d sum up our summer by saying one word. STRESSED.  No, actually that’s not true. Although there was a lot of stress involved, we handled it pretty well – if I do say so myself.  Our summer consisted of life changing events, and we are still finding out exactly how much our life has, or will, change.

Instead of writing an essay of meaningless words, I’m going to try something different.

    Ducky’s confirmation: JOYFUL

    My graduation: PROUD

    Hubby’s Retirement: EMOTIONAL

    Packing out: STRESSFUL

    Traveling: TIRING

    2 months in hotels: CRAMPED

    Moving In:  EXHAUSTING

    Finding jobs: FRUSTRATING

    Learning a new town: FUN

    Being near family: WONDERFUL

    Girls starting new schools: INTIMIDATING

    Concerts, shows, and activities: EXCITING

    Overall all summer: MEMORABLE

Now to the final piece, did we learn any life lessons? Well, I have learned over the years that although I hate change it is sometimes good and necessary. I think that this has been emphasized over the summer. As well as the knowledge that God will provide. I haven’t really been worried about anything, secure in the knowledge that if I do the foot work, God will provide the things I NEED. Not want, but need. And as long as my needs are covered, I am OK. So here I sit, with a roof over my head, food in my belly and a family that loves me. I have a church, clothes and all my basic necissities. Life is good today.

Now trundle off and visit the Kween’s site for more challenges.

Sometimes it’s important to work for that pot of gold.  But other times it’s essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow.  ~Douglas Pagels, These Are the Gifts I’d Like to Give to You
