Trying times
I’ve been trying and trying to change over to the new Themes layout for my site. The problem? Well my site is highly customized and while I was getting ready to change it anyway, I was basically going to change the theme and color scheme, not the whole dang thing. To top that off, lot of my codes won’t work with Xanga Themes. I’m still trying to figure it out, but I know it was supposed to be easier and I’m having a heck of time.
For instance, I created a new header with a great picture (not a collage since I don’t have access to photoshop right now). The only problem? When I try to put my site navigation buttons on they go right through the dang middle and look retarded. I can’t get them a) at the bottom of the header or b) to run horizontally across the very top of my site. It’s uber annoying. I’m not good at html and crap like that, I barely get by, which is why my site has the same look — it took me ages and ages to get it to a stage where I was really happy with it, so I don’t mess with it.
I’m ready for a change, I just don’t know if I ‘m ready for that big of a change! So far I’ve spent several hours (read about 4) and have absolutely nada to show for it.
arrrghhhh………….. Maybe I need more coffee?
question of the day:
New Themes or Old Look and Feel?
Comments (14)
I wouldn’t even attempt to use the new themes with as many complaints as I’ve heard about it! I am just hoping that it is one of those things that don’t get forced on us eventually, whether we want it or not. I know nothing about codes. I just need something as simple as possible.
i’m sticking with the old look and feel cuz i like my customized stuff :so-cool:
i like your banner and your background now
i was having problems with people visiting my site because of themes (at least i’m blaming it on themes) so yesturday thanks to mystic-xinging i was able to get the themes dropped from my site. now i’m back to the look and feel and actually have nothing going on during my site. which i don’t particularly like either. i will figure it out sometime but i don’t know which i like better. i think the themes is easier and i like the look but i don’t want people to have problems with things on my site either.
I tried to change mine too but it kept telling me that I had the wrong code or a code that wasn’t allowed. I gave up and went back to using the codes from myspace on there. Works just as well and a lot easier to figure out.
Can’t wait til Friday. Haven’t talked to Ang yet but I was thinking 5:30? That way we can have drinks and then order and by then Ed should be there. :celebrate:
I like the old way of doing things better than the new theme thingy by far. I just changed my site recently and had a lot of fun doing it by the old way.
I didn’t like the themes, I say stay with the old :big-smile:
RYC: He’s still gone. He won’t be home until July 31st. It has been a long trip. His web site helps so I can see his little face and he calls everyday. I call him too. I think he might get tired of me calling but I don’t care.:big-smile:
I loved Harry Potter…………it was awesome………..hugs.:wink-wink:
Yeah, I have been thinking about the themes. It is like they scold you every time you change something with that “Still using this old stuff? Try new Xanga Themes.” I like the stuff I have, and I am resistant to change.
Thanks for dropping by.
Hugs, Tricia :celebrate: :celebrate: :celebrate:
Woooooo! that’s a toughy, I messed with it for five seconds…changed it back. LOL!! It was too much to figure out.
RYC: Thanks, I figured I can’t have a wedding until I find out where and if they are even available the date I want it. A lot of the vendors I have started calling such as caterers and such won’t even give me the time of day until I tell them where….Now I’m faced with how much should I be spending, what is too much, what questions should I ask…eeeeeep!! :hammer:
Regarding the move, there is no way I would have given up my little girl, telling me that I’m not allowed to live somewhere with Maya is like telling me I can’t live there because I have a child. It wasn’t even an option, not to mention the fact that where I live isn’t the safest area so it was a blessing in disguise to leave here.
Thanks for reading
I got it figured out for one of my other sites, but it took me most of the day and you really can’t use any of the old codes (HTML), yet. . .I kept going to the forum for the themes and that helped, but I had problems just trying to get a header up there. . .I think it was the last thing I tried to do and I was just so danged tired of it all that I gave up. I did get my own background up though. But I truly love the old look and feel because you know I love to make those triple backs! I think your site looks just fine!~K.K.
Hey thanks for the comment! That’s so sweet of your girls to make sure that you are included! I think it’s important to have pictures of yourself.
I’ve had my layout for so long now I don’t know what I would do if I had to change it! I’m completely not savvy when it comes to that kind of stuff.
I like Look and Feel. I tried thier theme stuff, and what a pain. I am sticking to the old stuff.
:frog: Don’t change it. It looks great the way it is!
Love, Sande
