  • I have tickets!!! I’m going to NM this summer and getting off this constricting island paradise for just a couple of short weeks!! I am soooooooo excited!

Unfortunately, I’ll be in a little town that has less to offer than this dang blasted island. Harrumph. My mom and dad had mentioned taking a trip to see some of the places we lived when I was a kid, so I suggested that we go ahead and do that while I’m there…. at least maybe get to a town that has a Target…. and a Macaroni Grill or Olive Garden— anything besides wally word and Da Kitchen. PLEASE!!!

I found the tickets at an awesome price — 379.00 round trip! I couldn’t believe it! And it’s a non stop flight from Kahului to Phoenix..no stopping and changing planes. From there I’ll probably take a shuttle to Tucson, meet up with one of my best friends there for lunch and then my mom and dad will pick me up from there. Hmmmm… maybe I should try to stay overnight there, as Tucson has a Macaroni Grill, Olive Garden, Target, Michaelis, Hobby Lobby… you name it they have it!! (they also have severe traffic, high crime, high taxes and ridiculously high temperatures!!  )

Been working on my school work, trying to get caught up. Been home schooling the kids… trying to get caught up. Doing the laundry (can you finish this sentence….)…… Trying to get caught up!

I told the kids if they worked extra hard for me this week we would go see X-3 when it comes out on Friday… so far they are heading to the movies Friday for an “incentive” field trip. Hey, I figure if the public schools can do that, SO CAN I!

Alright, I need to go clean the kitchen and pick up the living room — AGAIN [insert hopeless resignation to life of drudgery here].

    Question for the day:

If you could take a short trip to any state this summer, where would you go and what would you do while there?

  • Hawaii And I would just chill and enjoy the beauty. Wana do a time share thing? You can come to my boring suburb of chicago and I will go to your boring Island. The grass is always greener as they say.

  • I would go to the state of euphoria and stay there indefinitely.
    :p
    congrats on the tickets!!

  • Tough one, since I still have 11 states to visit.  But since you specified summer, I think Alaska, where I would enjoy the cool weather, and the long days.  I’d take my camera and get LOTS of pix of the wildlife.  But mostly, I would just enjoy being alone, with no kids, no DH, no housework, no yardwork.  I wonder how much a ticket to Alaska is these days?

  • RYC:  You can occasionally see the northern lights from WA, too, so you don’t HAVE to go to Alaska.  But feel free to join me anyhow.

  • Your trip sounds like lots of fun :)   I’m planning a trip for the kids and I to SC (to see my family) and IN (to see Dh’s family) this summer, I’ll spend most of the 2 weeks in SC but I’m planning on staying in IN for 3 or 4 days, should be fun.  If I could take a trip that didn’t involve visiting family I’d love to go to the Grand Canyon, never been, maybe next year.

Regarding the color, I’ve never painted a room a color I didn’t like?  I have every paint chip from every store I buy paint from so I just tape the color to the wall and figure out what I like.  :)   Knock on wood it’s always turned out ok.  For the first 3 years that we lived in this house everything was white and once I started painting I wanted color everywhere!  It’s the most inexpensive way to totally change a room.  I need to paint my bathroom to match now.  My room was Navy blue before this and the bathroom was sky blue, the sky blue and burgundy just isn’t working out very well, I’ll start on that next week.  Anyway, I know you asked a simple question and I just wrote a novel

Have a great night and a blessed tomorrow.

    :heartbeat:

  • I would like to go to Maine, and see the ocean on East Coast.

  • Maine to go to my cousin reunion and eat lobster and drink beer.  Easy.  XO, QE

  • RYC: Thank you for voting for Jennie.

  • I have to agree with DiniHJ & say Alaska.  It sure is hot here (Arkansas)  already & VERY humid!  It was up to 95 today.  July heat in May…gotta love it.  NOT!  Wonder how much a one-way ticket to Alaska is?  LOL!
